ABSTRACT

A retrospective study of 192 patients attended the eye casualty clinic. We identified their route of referral and weather they were treated according to the departmental guideline or not, and if they could have been seen by a competent nurse practioner. We suggested that introduction of ophthalmic triage system will ensure proper patient prioritization. Also giing lectures to and training the accident and emergency medical staff and general practioners of some of the urgent eye problems will prevent misutilization of the eye casualty clinic
