ABSTRACT

To improve the science principle of input-output evaluation in medical research institutions, this study uses literature research and expert interviews to make a comparison between domestic and foreign evaluation criterion. There are several problems about input-output evaluation in medical research institutions in China, such as less flexibility and targeted methods, inappropriate models, inadequate indicators and quantitative metrics.Seveal combinations of elements should be considered for input-output evaluation in medical research institutions, which is parallels and distinctions, qualitative and quantitative methods, quality and quantity, process and results, focus and full, and also emphasis on the application of information technology.

ABSTRACT

Objective To establish the evaluation methods of individual technology maturity based on SCI-covered papers and patent data using Gartner's Hype Cycle. Methods The SCI-covered papers and patent data were ana-lyzed by nonlinear regression analysis in combination with traditional X-radiography and photo-acoustic tomo-graphy, and represented as the bell-shaped curve and S-shaped curve for judging the technology maturity. Results The individual technology maturity was consistent with the qualitative review of experts. Conclusion The individual technology described in SCI-covered papers and patent data can be used in primary evaluation of its maturity.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the reasons why PLoS One has set off an upsurge in China especially in hospitals, the academic level of papers published in PLoS One, and how to correctly judge the SCI-covered papers published by hospitals. Methods Papers published in PLoS One by hospitals in China were retrieved. The number of papers published in PLoS One by hospitals in China, the institutions that published the papers in PLoS One, and the num-ber of fund-supported papers were analyzed. Results A total of 9739 papers were published in PLoS One by hospitals in China from 2007 to October 2015, with an average cited frequency of 5.29.The majority of authors who published the papers were from affiliated hospitals of scientific research institutions and teaching hospitals of colleges and uni-versities.Of the 9739 papers, 87.78%were supported by funds from different foundations. Conclusion Nothing is strike about the academic level of papers published in PLoS One by hospitals in China with their average cited fre-quency lower than that (8.14) in our country. The SCI-covered papers published by hospitals should not be con-sidered as the only criterion in assessing the performances of staff in hospitals.

ABSTRACT

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory began its doctoral program in 1999, but its training model is very distinctive and has been emulated by many institutes. Its features are mainly embodied in the following aspects:the aim of cultivating outstanding talent, the idea of lifelong learning, the system of“two-tier”mentoring program, the security measure of tuition paid in full by the school and the free and open environment. To learn from those advanced training experience, great efforts should be made in our doctoral cultivation mode in the aspects of enrollment system, education resources allocation method, and the training objective and emphasis.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore a new evaluation framework for talented professionals in science and technology, and design an appropriate methodology and management mechanism. Methods Key evaluation indicators were set according to the organization′s strategic objectives and innovation elements.Following the introduction to new concepts of evaluation, methods and steps were designed that could analyze evaluation results using the radar chart to achieve full-dimensional identification of different indicators, scopes or levels. Results and Conclusion A pluggablehierarchical management mechanism was established, and an organic architecture that involved data, evaluation logics and operation management was constructed.A pilot study was carried out in an institution of military medical sciences to verify the applicability of this framework.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the relationship between oncology and military medicine in order to remove theoretical barriers to the development of oncology in military hospitals .Methods The documentary evidence was obtained from cita-tion networks .Results Military hospitals and institutes in China and abroad have conducted studies on oncology , including the long-term survival of Hodgkin′s disease patients in a study of 388 military cases during World War Ⅱ, a study of leuke-mia within the former West Germany Armed Forces , and a study on melanoma in the Armed Forces .Also, some foreign doc-umentation paid special attention to special weapons and equipment , special military operations and special military envi-ronment-related issues of cancer epidemiology , such as cancer following nuclear weapon tests , the association of selected cancers with service in the U .S.military in Vietnam or after the Gulf War .The Military Cancer Institute of the United States published a total of 206 articles between 2001 and 2013 .Conclusion To make closer the relationship between oncol-ogy and military medicine , we should find out more about the relationship between general medicine and military medicine , learn foreign from experience on development of oncology , and explore the military medical value of oncology .

ABSTRACT

Cell Research got all impact factor of 3. 426, which was the highest Chinese SCI journal, but ranked 4th by journal's h index. By analyzing the cites and citations of Cell Research from 1999-2006 using the method of bibliometrics, four main characteristics of Cell Research were found:①The quantity of papers published Oil Cell Research is low and their quality is hish. ②Advantageous opening, with authorship patterns, editorial members and peer reviewers from home and abroad. ③Journal published in English is easy to perform international academic exchange. ④International operation model also played an important role in Cell Research's success.

ABSTRACT

Hirsch index or h-index of a subject means that the subject has h published papers which are cited at least h times for each. This index is considered as both quantity and quality of the SHbiect's academic outcome. In this paper the data showed that the h-indexes of the Chinese medical SUbiects were different. The SUbiect's h-index could be used as a balance factor.which made the outcome of scientists from different SUbiects comparable.Using h-index and the other 2 indexes.Chinese medical snbiects were clustered into 4 groups, which could be used as a guideline for classified management and the evaluation of the medical subjects
