ABSTRACT
The study was performed on 74 in-patients, sixty two were suffering from severe pre-eclampsia who were treated by MgSO [4] [50 patients] and diazepam [12 patients]. Twelve patients with premature labour were treated by MgSO [4] as a tocolytic and served as a control group. Urine analysis and kidney functions were done to all patients. Plasma Mg concentrations were estimated as well. The study proved that MgS0 [4] magnified the sign of haematuria in severely pre-eclamptic patients but not inducing it in patients with pre-mature labour

50 normotensive pregnant vronen in the third trimester and 30 pre-eclamptic [group I, group II] were enrolled for studying the Digoxin like immunoreactive substance, there, was statistically significant increase in pre-eclampse group [120.8 +/- 8.9] compared to [78.3 +/- .9 in control group [P < 0.001]. these was a positive correlation between Doppler ultrasound, systolic, diastolic blood pressure and blood uric acid. So this substance may be implicated in the pathogensis and as indicator of severity of pre-eclampsia

This work is an attempt to find a relation between type, III collagen fibres in amniotic membranes and PROM [premature rupture of membranes]. Twenty patients with PROM and 20 parturient women with intact membranes [as control] were included in the study. Biopsy specimens were taken from the amniotic membranes near the rupture sites and stained with special stains to assess the amount of collagen fibres III. It was found that type III collagen decreased significantly in PROM as compared with cases with intact membranes
