Congenital dislocation of the hip: review of treatment of seventy-three hips

Congenital dislocation of the hip is an important condition that has attracted a large share of attention of the orthopaedic surgeons. The results of treatment of 73 hips in 62 patients are analysed. The pre-operative the operative and post-operative scheme of treatment is discussed. Good results were obtained in 56 hips [76.7%] and bad results in 17 hips [23.3%]. The most important causes of the poor results were avascular necrosis of the femoral capital epiphysis, degenerative arthritis and recurrence of the subluxation.
