ABSTRACT

Background and Aims: A needle in the chest could be asymptomatic or with symptoms of life-threatening


Case: A 32 years old man with respiratory distress was hospitalized in the emergency department. Examination of the chest wall on the outer part of the left lung emphysema was palpable. Patient's chest x ray anterior and lateral were taken where a foreign body length of approximately 4 cm was observed. Surgery of the upper lobe of the lower part of the left lung was removed and given to the family. After 50 days, patient with the burning feeling in the chest, shortness of breath, went to another hospital and was hospitalized with the diagnosis of foreign body in the left lung and during surgery, other foreign object [a needle] was removed


Discussion: Needle presence in the lung is very rare, but in these patients it is important that to note their mental status be considered to better judge in similar cases
