ABSTRACT

Objective: To evaluate different doses of ivermectin in adult patients with mild COVID-19 and to evaluate the effect of ivermectin on mortality and clinical consequences. Methods: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter clinical trial was performed at five hospitals. A total of 180 mild hospitalized patients with COVID-19 confirmed by PCR or chest image tests were enrolled and allocated to six arms including hydroxychloroquine 200 mg twice per day, placebo plus hydroxychloroquine 200 mg twice per day, single dose ivermectin (200 μg/kg), three low interval doses of ivermectin (200, 200, 200 μg/kg), single dose ivermectin (400 μg/kg), and three high interval doses of ivermectin (400, 200, 200 μg/kg). The primary endpoint of this trial was all-cause of mortality or clinical recovery. The radiographic findings, hospitalization and low O

ABSTRACT

Psychological and psychiatric disorders have a high frequency in multiple sclerosis (MS). However, their relationship with MS is complex and the extent to which they might be reactive to countless psychosocial factors, or symptoms resultant of the pathological process itself remains unclear. The aim of this study was to compare psychological symptoms in a group of MS patients and compared to healthy controls. The study subjects were MS patients admitted to the Farshchian hospital in Hamadan, Iran. The diagnosis was based on McDonald (2011) criteria. There were 120 patient), aged 34.5 ± 10.8 (mean ± SD) years. It was a cross sectional study. The psychological symptoms were assessed using Symptom Checklist-90 (SCL-90). It was found that the MS patients exhibited significantly more psychological symptoms than the healthy controls. The SCL-90 scores of MS patients were significantly higher for somatization, obsession-compulsion, interpersonal sensitivity, hostility, depression and anxiety. The high rate of psychological symptoms in adult MS supports the need for routine psychological screening.

ABSTRACT

Responsibility for diabetes management tasks must shift from caregivers to adolescents as adolescents grow older. Also, family-centered care is a way to provide efficient care for them at home. This study aimed to identify the effect of family-centered care on management of blood glucose levels in adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus [T1DM]. This is a Pre-experimental study with a pre- and post-test design. The participants consisted of forty adolescents with T1DM, aged between 10-14 years, with their caregivers who were selected through simple random sampling from Hamadan Diabetes Research Center in Iran in 2013. The sample was divided into four similar groups. Educational sessions were conducted for each group for 30 to 40 minutes. Data collection tools were [Supervisory Behaviors of Caregiver] [SBC], [Management Behaviors of adolescents] [MBA] questionnaires, and the [Blood Glucose Levels Record Sheet]. Data were analyzed using SPSS 19 and based on descriptive statistics, Kolmogorov-Smirnov, paired t-test and Pearson coefficient. There was a significant difference between the subjects' MBA and SBC mean scores before [110.17 +/- 26.6] and after [134.6+/-1.28] intervention in four domains: [blood glucose testing], [insulin therapy], [meal plan] and [physical activity] [P<0.001]. There were significant differences between the mean levels of recorded blood glucose during a week before and after intervention and between the mean levels of Glycated Hemoglobin level [HbA1c] before [8.4 +/- 1.12] and three months after [7.78 +/- 1.2] it [P<0.001]. Pearson coefficient showed a positive relationship between the supervisory behaviors of caregivers with management behaviors of adolescents before and after the intervention [P<0.001]. Empowering adolescents with T1DM and their caregivers in home-centered care could improve diabetic adolescents' management of blood glucose levels and reduce their HbAlC levels. Therefore, Family-centered care could provide for better regime adherence at home

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to examine the rate and clinico-Pathological characteristics of ovarian metastasis of endometrioid type endometrial cancer. A retrospective study of all patients with endometrioid type endometrial cancer was carried out during 1990-2009. Chi-square and Fisher's Exact tests were used to analyze all the variables. P

ABSTRACT

To develop and test clinical performance self-efficacy [CPSF] scale for nursing students. Literature review indicated there is no existing nursing clinical performance self-efficacy instrument for nursing students. A qualitative study was conducted to explore the self-efficacy concept in clinical performance of nursing students. A self-efficacy framework with well-developed theoretical constructs was formed. A methodological study design was used, consisting of two phases. A review of literature and also content analysis of the interview and focus group transcripts identified subscale and key items to be included in the instrument. CPSF scale was developed into 69 Likert-format items, which were evaluated by twenty nursing experts followed by testing in a random sample of 207 nursing students. The scale's validity and reliability were tested. After measuring content validity index and factor analysis, the final scale of four dimensions with 37 items was developed. In addition, concurrent validity was obtained [r= 0.73, P< 0.01]. The overall scale internal reliability had a=0.96; Cronbach's a for scale's dimensions ranged from 0.90 to 0.92. Test-retest reliability with a 2-week time interval was: r=0.94. The CPSF had demonstrated evidence of content validity, construct validity, concurrent validity, internal consistency, and stability. Statistical analysis provided an objective tool for assessing nursing students' clinical performance self-efficacy
