ABSTRACT

Objective To study the effects of planting soil on active ingredients in different organs of Lonicera japonica Thunb.. Methods The contents of active ingredients in Lonicera japonica Thunb. from different origins, different varieties and different organs, such as chlorogenic acid, luteoloside, total flavonoids, total phenolic acid, and soil nutrient and inorganic elements, were detected. The data were analyzed by using SPSS 19.0 software. Results Lonicera japonica Thunb. from Pinyi area in Shandong Province had the highest content of active ingredients. In terms of content of active ingredients, PY-HBRD-1 was the most suitable variety in the Pingyi area. Analysis on the correlation between planting soil and active ingredients showed that the contents of K, Mn and other elements could be used as the index for quality control of Lonicera japonica Thunb.. Conclusion This study could provide guidance for selection of varieties of Lonicera japonica Thunb. in different planting areas, and enrich the materials about researches on producing area of Lonicera japonica.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo analyze the volatile oil of olibanum and apply scientific evidences for its applications.

METHODThe volatile oil was analyzed by GC-MS.

RESULTOne hundred components were identified, accounting for 91.26% of the total volatile oil, and the main components were octyl acetate, beta-elemene. It contains some transdermal absorption enhancers.

CONCLUSIONThe components of olibanum volatile oil were complicated; the connatural transdermal absorption enhancers make it possible to use in external preparation.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo compare morphological characteristics of pollen of Lonicera japonica in different cultivars cultivated in Shandong and provide a basis for distinguishing different cultivars and selecting fine breeding.

METHODThe scanning electron microscope (SEM) was applied to observe and compare the outside characteristics of pollen, and the data were analyzed by SAS 9.1 software.

RESULTSome difference was found among pollen size, aperture length and the density of spine. The biggest pollen size and aperture length is Dajizhao with 61.97 microm polar axis and 61.79 microm quarter major axis and 18.03 microm aperture length, and the smallest is Honggengzi with 57.46 microm polar axis and 57.29 microm quarter major axis and 18.03 microm aperture length.

CONCLUSIONThe morphological characteristics of pollen can provide a basis for distinguishing different cultivars of L. japonica.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo provide theoretical evidence for dividing and breeding cultivars of Lonicera japonica, the botanical character of laminas leaves observed and compared.

METHODUsing the morphological method, the main character of leaves of 11 farm cultivars of L. japonica were systematically observed and the data were comparatively studied with statistical means. It included the length, width and the ratio of the length to the width of blade, density, length and thickness of the nonglandular hair in the epidermis.

RESULTThe results showed that there were obvious differences in length, width and the ratio of the length to the width of blade, density and length of the nonglandular hair in the epidermis.

CONCLUSIONOn the basis of the differences of morphological character of leaves, the various farm cultivars could be identified.

ABSTRACT

The morphology and anatomy of two genera, five species and one variety ofEquisetaceae produced in Shandong Province were studied under light and scanning electron microscope. There are remarkble differences between Equisetum L. and Hippochatete Milde in the type of stomas, at-tachments on the surface of stoma guard cells and the number of epithelial layers; and the presence of lat-eral xylem in all vasular bundle of Equisetaceae from Shandong. The results showed that they can be identi-fied taxonomically according to their inner structual and epidermal characteristics of stem between differentgenera, but with little difference among species of same genus.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the genetic diversity and relationship of different cultivars of the fruits of Trichosantheis kirilowii, and determine them in molecular level. Methods Different fram cultivars and fruits in wild plant of T. kirilowii from Shandong Province and T. hupehensis were detected by randomly amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers with 25 randomized primers. The Jaccard coefficient was worked out by using NTSYS-pc software, and a cluster dendrogram of different samples was established based on unweighed pair-group method with arithmetic mean (UPGMA). Results The 25 selected primers produced 266 bands among which 232 bands (87.2%) were polymorphic. In the cluster dendrogram, T. hupehensis was far from the different cultivars and fruits in wild plant of T. kirilowii, but there was closer genetic relationship between Niuxin Gualou and Ren Gualou, Da Gualou, and Baleng Gualou, as well as Xiao Guang-dan Gualou and wild sample. Conclusion RAPD Markers can be used to standardize, arrange, and determine farm cultivars of fruits of T. kirilowii in molecular level, and indicate the genetic relationship and background, then provide important information for seed breeding and resourse protection of T. kirilowii.
