ABSTRACT

With the continuous expansion of the enrollment of international medical students and the improvement of teaching quality, as well as the rapid development of rehabilitation medicine in China, rehabilitation medicine has become one of the required courses for in-ternational medical students. In view of the main problems suffered by the international medical undergraduate students in the study of reha-bilitation medicine, we mainly focused on the education concepts, teaching management and quality evaluation system, curriculum setting, construction of teaching materials, teacher training, teaching mode, teaching research and so on. The aim is to provide reference for improv-ing education quality in the course of rehabilitation medicine for the international medical students.

ABSTRACT

@#Objective To investigate the scholarly condition of China rehabilitation medicine in the world. Methods Based on Journal Citation Reports and Web of Science databases, the literatures of rehabilitation medicine were surveyed by countries and by years, especially those from China published in 2007 to 2011. Results and Conclusion The number and cited times of Chinese rehabilitation medicine literatures increased quickly. Hong Kong was on the top of China. For the universities of inland, Sun Yat-sen University, Capital Medical University and Nanjing Medical University were on the tops. The top fields of research were neurological rehabilitation, sports rehabilitation, rehabilitation therapy, etc.

In order to standardize the new prosthetic and orthotic engineering undergraduate education, Capital Medical University and its subordinate rehabilitation medicine school and biomedical engineering school are organized together to build new professional construc-tion platform, and form a closely integrated medical and engineering talent training mode, especially a series of reform, practice and explora-tion in the areas of cultivation program design, compiling teaching materials, teachers team and the laboratory construction, practice teach-ing and the international certification and so on, achieving the international prosthetic and orthotic engineering senior talents training target.

@#Moral education has become gradually an important work of medical university in the new situation of market economy and knowledge economy. Toward characteristics of the college education of rehabilitation medicine, the current problems existing in the moral education of rehabilitation education was mainly analyzed, and new teaching method of moral education was probed as well as the understanding and thinking during the moral education.

@# For clinical curricula of rehabilitation therapy, we take different teaching Methods , including combining lecturing and demonstrating together, and heuristic and problem-based approaches in the theory courses; combining demonstrating and practicing together, participating the clinical practice in the noviciate; requesting the students to make internship report and graduation project in the internship, which may improve the knowledge, capacity and quality structure of the students.

@# With the support of the China-Japan training program for rehabilitation-therapist conducted by Japan International Cooperative Agency (JICA), China Rehabilitation Research Center had set up the undergraduate course for rehabilitation sciences cooperated with Capital Medical University, and had made the international teaching plans and curriculum setting, edited the first series teaching materials of the undergraduate course, cultivated a group excellent teachers for the undergraduate course, added teaching equipments and improved teaching conditions, all of which is further helpful to develop the rehabilitation sciences in China.
