ABSTRACT
A Gestalt-Terapia surge nos EUA no ano de 1951 e chega ao Brasil no início da década de 1970. O presente artigo tem como objetivo apresentar a história e o desenvolvimento da Gestalt-Terapia no Brasil. Para tanto, aborda a recepção dessa abordagem psicoterapêutica em nosso país, considerando os elementos históricos que permitiram sua chegada, sobretudo o contexto sócio-político e a situação da psicologia como ciência e profissão na década de 1970. Discorre ainda sobre o desenvolvimento inicial desta abordagem no Brasil, apresentando sua difusão, crescimento e consolidação enquanto teoria e prática psicoterápicas. Por fim, assinala a expansão dos princípios gestálticos para outras áreas da psicologia, o que justifica a designação recente do termo abordagem gestáltica
Gestalt therapy emergedin the USA in 1951 and arrived in Brazil in the early 1970s. This paper aims to present the history and the development of Gestalt therapy in Brazil. To this end, it addresses the receptionof such psychotherapeutic approach in our country, considering the historical factors which enabled it, especially the socio-political context and the situation of Psychology as a science and a profession in the 1970s. It alsopresentsthe early development of this approach in Brazil, with its spread, growth and consolidation as a psychotherapeutic theory and practice. Finally, the article marks the expansion of Gestalt principles in other areas of Psychology, explainingthe recent designation of the term gestalt approach
