ABSTRACT

The proposal of the article is to think about Sándor Ferenczi's and Donald Woods Winnicott's theoretical concepts regarding trauma, highlighting the importance of those contributions to the theoretical and practical approach to difficult patients in psychoanalysis, at which the reliability of the analyst, the countertransference and the significance of body and affection in the psychotherapeutic sphere play a vital part. These elements may guide clinical handling, especially in the analytical process of patients that present symbolization difficulties. Thus, we intend to stress the relevance of care in the theoretical and clinical postulates of these authors, as well as its importance when facing the impasses and challenges of the trauma treatment.
