ABSTRACT

Frailty is the clinical syndrome that occurs due to an increase in personal vulnerability and a decline in the ability to maintain one′s internal balance, which is closely related to the development of bladder cancer in the elderly. The research on frailty of elderly patients with bladder cancer in China is still in its infancy. This article discussed the risks of bladder cancer and frailty, the necessity of preoperative frailty assessment in patients with bladder cancer, commonly used assessment tools, and summarized the limitations of the existing evaluation tools to provide reference for further developing and improving the frailty evaluation tools and applications for bladder cancer patients research provides reference.

ABSTRACT

The tumor is a kind of age-related chronic diseases. Nearly 60% tumors appear in 65 years or older. With the growth of elderly population and worsen of environment. There is an upward trend in elderly patients with tumor. Most of patients with tumor, their subsequent treatment, rehabilitation or end-stage care outside the hospital.Rely on the community′s long-term rehabilitation services at home. However, due to various factors, limit the elderly patients with physical and mental needs.Unmet effective needs. This paper is based on extensive researching and reading lots of literature, to summarize and analyze the rehabilitation services between the elderly patients with tumor at the present stage,in order to attract attention to community elderly patients with tumor at home, further improve the service system and quality of life for the elderly patient with tumor.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the fatigue experience of the community-dwelling frail elderly to establish the conceptual model. Methods Grounded theory was adopted. With MAXQDA v10.4.15.1for 3 levels coding, the conceptual model of fatigue experience of community-dwelling frail elderly people was structured through constant comparison and in-depth analysis. Results Multi-response,selfmanagement,safe and belonging, hitting rock bottom, accepting and transferring formed the conceptual model. Conclusions Based on the conceptual model, nurses should pay more attention to concern about the fatigue experience of community-dwelling frail elderly people, and probe different assessment methods to enrich comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA),then improve the community health service level and the quality of elderly people's life.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To explore the effects of Xuezhikang Capsules (ZXKC) and probucol on blood lipids, vascular endothelial functions and redox status in patients with coronary heart disease. METHODS: One hundred and twelve patients with coronary heart disease were randomly divided into XZKC-treated group and probucol-treated group, 56 in each. Before and after 8-week treatment, the blood levels of total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), nitric oxide (NO), endothelin-1 (ET-1), reduced glutathione (GSH) and oxidized glutathione (GSSG) were all measured in both groups. The GSH/GSSG redox potential (Eh) was calculated according to the Nernst equation. RESULTS: In the XZKC-treated group, the blood levels of TC, LDL-C and TG were significantly decreased after 8-week treatment as compared with those before treatment. The blood levels of TC and LDL-C were also significantly decreased in the probucol-treated group as compared with those before treatment. In the XZKC-treated group, the blood levels of ET-1 and GSSG and the GSH/GSSG Eh after treatment were all significantly lower than those before treatment, whereas the blood levels of GSH and NO, the NO/ET-1 ratio, and the GSH/GSSG ratio after treatment were all significantly higher than those before treatment. CONCLUSION: The XZKC or probucol treatment can yield a significant decrease in blood lipids in patients with coronary heart disease. Furthermore, XZKC exerts effective protection on vascular endothelial function, and can make GSH/GSSG redox status shift towards deoxidation.
