ABSTRACT

A resting ECG is not and never has been an absolute tool in establishing physical fitness. Note that no single ECG finding is associated with any single clinical entity. Each ECG finding must be correlated clinically, and further laboratory documentation is sometimes necessary so that a fair and justifiable clinical decision can be made. A TECG is additionally requested to determine functional capability of the cardiopulmonary system, while a CSG is additionally requested to confirm and document anatomic patterns. An ambulatory Holter ECG is additionally requested when documenting arrhythmias in relation to daily routine activities, or to document ischemia when prevailing conditions do not allow performance of a TECG.
