ABSTRACT
El síndrome nefrótico congénito (SNC) se refiere a la enfermedad renal que está presente en el nacimiento hasta el primer año de vida. El SNC se caracteriza por: proteinuria, edema e hipoalbuminemia. La mayoría de estos casos tienen una base genética, siendo el más prevalente el de tipo Finlandés, sin embargo pueden ser secundarios a infecciones, toxicidad o a una etiología asociada a un síndrome. El diagnóstico se basa en criterios clínicos, de laboratorio e histopatológicos. Al ser una enfermedad cortico resistente el tratamiento ideal es la nefrectomía con trasplante renal. El pronóstico de estos pacientes es malo si no recibe oportunamente un trasplante renal. En este artículo se revisa el caso clínico de una neonata con SNC probablemente de tipo Finlandés diagnosticado a los seis días de nacida en la Unidad Metropolitana de Salud Sur.
Congenital nephrotic syndrome (CNS) refers to the disease that presents from birth until the first year of life. CNS is characterized by proteinuria, edema and hypoalbuminemia. Most of these cases have a genetic basis, being the most prevalent Finnish type. However, it can be secondary to infections, toxicity or an etiology associated with other syndromes. The diagnosis is based on clinical, laboratory and histopathological criteria. Since it is resistant to corticoids, the ideal treatment is nephrectomy with kidney transplant. The prognosis is poor, when not receiving timely treatment with kidney transplant. In this article we review the clinical case of a newborn with a probably Finnishtype CNS diagnosed six days after birth at Unidad Metropolitana de Salud Sur.
