ABSTRACT
Esta revisión se realizó con el propósito fundamental de reflejar aspectos de la homosexualidad tales como su definición, orígenes, trastornos psicológicos asociados y lo concerniente a las terapias de cambio. Dentro de los resultados más relevantes podemos encontrar la variedad de definiciones existentes, sus diversos orígenes desde el punto de vista biológico, psicológico y social, la variedad de trastornos psicológicos asociados y los diferentes criterios acerca de la efectividad de las terapias de cambio. Como conclusiones más importantes encontramos que realmente hacen mucha falta las investigaciones sobre esta variante de la sexualidad para llegar a comprenderla en toda su magnitud, además de profundizar en el conocimiento de los orígenes de la heterosexualidad para algún día llegar a comprender totalmente la homosexualidad.
This revision was carried out with the main objective of reflecting aspects of homosexuality such as its definition, origins, psychological dysfunctions that may be associated to it and some ideas concerning the so - called therapies of change. Among the most outstanding findings we can mention the variety of existent definitions, their diverse origins from the biological, psychological and social points of view, the variety of psychological dysfunctions connected to it and the different criteria about the effectiveness of the therapies of change. The most important conclusions point out the real necessity of investigations on this variant of sexuality to end up understanding it in all its magnitude, besides deepening into the knowledge about the origins of heterosexuality in order to understand homosexuality thoroughly.
