ABSTRACT

Background: Strategic planning and its vital impact on achieving the organization goals, sometimes managers face serious obstacles and problems in implementing the strategic decisions. The aim of this study was to investigate the experiences of managers of hospitals of Jahrom University of Medical Sciences on obstacles of implementing strategic plans in 2017. Methods: this qualitative study was conducted using a Hermeneutics approach which was accomplished through semi-structured interview with 8 hospital managers and those who had a main role in strategic planning and were selected with purposeful sampling method. Data was collected till reaching data saturation. Results: 80 codes were extracted by data analysis and finally 4 main themes, 12 classes and 26 subcategories were obtained. Themes include: managerial inefficient structure, inefficient human resources, inappropriate infrastructure and inefficient policies. Conclusion: Findings of the present study will provide a better perception of obstacles, opportunities and finally strategies of promoting this plan due to experiences of managers and other involving factors. Obstacles and factors of failure of strategic decisions in the hospitals should be fully known so that during implementation of strategic management process, the desired results are obtained with providence and better management or changing approaches

ABSTRACT

Background: During occurrence of events and disasters, hospitals are among the most vital units that their optimal and timely healthcare services could play a vital and determining role in reducing mortality and saving the injured. The present study was performed with the aim of investigating the rate of readiness of Gachsaran City hospitals against disasters. Methods: This study is a descriptive-cross sectional study that was conducted on 150 persons of treatment and non-treatment personnel of three hospitals of Shahid Rajaei, Besat and Bibi Hakimeh in Gachsaran City with simple random sampling method. Data collecting tool includes scholar – made questionnaire (with Likert range), assessing the rate of hospital readiness against disasters. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, ANOVA test and SPSS 24 software was used. Results: the results obtained the findings indicate that manager's awareness status against disasters in Besat, Bibi Hakimeh and Shahid Rajaei hospitals is respectively 3.72, 3 and 2.74 respectively that Besat and Shahid Rajaei hospitals with the highest and Shahid Rajaei with the lowest awareness status of managers against disasters. The average of human resources in Shahid Rajaei, Besat and Bibi Hakimeh hospitals are respectively 3.54, 3.46 and 3 that Rajaei is the greatest and Bibi Hakimeh is the lowest. Conclusion: it may be said that human resources are considered an effective factor in encountering natural disasters and trained and skillful people during occurrence of natural disasters could have an effective performance in reducing damages and financial and physical losses. So, Oil and Bibi Hakimeh Hospitals should have required readiness by planning for increasing their human resources volume.

ABSTRACT

Background: Health tourism today is one of the most growing sections of tourism industry in the world that due to low cost of providing treatment services in Iran is considered among the best aspects of economic development and is an opportunity for providing medical services for tourists and also creating satisfaction in foreign patients referring to the country for treatment for promoting the state validity and economy. Also, health tourism is a national strategy for increasing national income and also an arm of national safety. Methods: the present study is an applied study which was conducted with descriptive-analytical method and cross-sectional in 2017. The study population included a number of governmental hospitals of Shiraz city. Data collecting was performed using checklists and in field method and by method of observing interview with personnel and available documents. For data description, tables, average and standard deviation and for data analysis single-sample t-test was used. Results: : results obtained from this study in investigating tested hypotheses show that factors of hospital costs and medical equipment and personnel skill and after that relations of medical personnel and hospital structure and finally pursuing affairs of treatment in attracting health attraction is effective in governmental hospitals of Shiraz city. Conclusion: regarding the obtained results in this study, it seems that there are more factors relating to health tourists attraction and findings of this study could be an avenue for better recognition of these intervening factors.

ABSTRACT

Background: Managers' leadership styles have negative and positive impacts on affairs of governmental organizations and in this regard influences psychological variables, such as psychological variables influencing general health which are studied in this paper. So, the present study aims at investigating managers' leadership styles on general health of Cheram City Health network personnel. Materials & Methods: This study is descriptive and of correlation type that the statistical population incudes all managers and personnel of Cheram City health network managers and personnel. The number of managers is 54 and personnel are 218 persons. For sampling, Morgan table was used that randomly 45 managers and 135 employees were selected as sample. The research instrument in this study is questionnaire of Salesman and Anderkolc (1982) managers' leadership styles and Goldberg & Hiller (1979) general health questionnaires. The statistical analysis was performed with SPSS software and statistical tests of multivariate variance and correlation factor. Results: : findings showed that there is a significant and positive relation between leadership styles and personnel general health (p<0.05). There is a significant and negative relation between authoritative - exploitative leadership style and personnel general health (p<0.05). There is a significant and positive relation between authoritative - benevolent, participative and consultative style and personnel general health (p<0.05). Conclusion: Discussion and conclusion: managers' leadership styles impact personnel general health and the more flexibility the managers in the organization have, the personnel psychological indicators are more and the organization status becomes better.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Growth of urbanization has led to changes in production and components of nosocomial wastes and proper management of repelling solid wastes is an issue that has direct relationship to health and infection’s control in society. Although the numbers of these materials are low, but can cause lots of dangers. This study has been done with the aim of determining quantity and quality and also condition of management of wastes at medical and hygienic centers in year 94. Methodology: In this descriptive-sectional study that performed at governmental hygienic and medical centers of Farash Band, productive wastes divided into 3 main groups and the condition of wastes management was also investigated on the basis of prepared check list from management’s regulation of nosocomial wastes. By using panel regression, the effect of various variables on rate of infectious wastes and all the productive and nosocomial wastes was analyzed. Results: Findings of study showed that productive wastes are related to the numbers of referred people and are more than other hygienic and medical centers in hospitals. Although a meaningful relation between the rate of productive and infectious wastes and the numbers of referred people has not been observed, but the rate of productive and infectious waste in hospitals was more than other centers and it was statistically meaningful. Conclusion: Daily productions of thousands tons of waste in different areas (of country) and all kinds that they have according to pollution, are an issues that considering population’s growth and development of industry and technology should be placed at up to hygiene and environment’s plans of the country. According to the importance of this issue, at first items about hygienic dangers, type and the rate of waste and then collection and excretion systems should be noticed.
