ABSTRACT
Objetivo: determinar la asociación entre el número de piezas dentarias del sector anterior-superior perdidas en forma prematura y los trastornos en la articulación de fonemas fricativos. Material y método: se realizó un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal en una muestra de 30 niños en edad pre-escolar. Se realizó un examen odontológico para registrar las condiciones del sector ánterior-superior, que incluía la pérdida prematura del diente o de la corona clínica por caries o trauma. Se obtuvo además el diagnóstico del terapista de lenguaje, que incluía las diferentes alteraciones del habla mediante el test de Melgar. Para la elaboración y análisis de los datos se utilizó el paquete estadístico SPSS 13. Se empleó la prueba estadística Chi cuadrado para determinar la asociación de las variables. Resultados: se determinó la asociación entre la alteración fonológica en los fonemas fricativos F, S, Z y la pérdida prematura de piezas anterior-superiores, mas no de los fonemas fricativos Y y J. Conclusiones: existe asociación entre la pérdida prematura de piezas dentarias ántero-superiores y la alteración fonológica de los fonemas fricativos F, S y Z, mas no de los fonemas fricativos Y y J.
Objective: to determine the association between the number of teeth prematurely lost in the anterosuperior sector and disorders in the articulation of fricative phonemes. Material and method: a descriptive cross-sectional study in a sample of 30 pre-school age children was done. We performed a dental examination to record the conditions of the anterosuperior sector including the premature loss of the tooth or of the clinical crown by caries or trauma. We had also the diagnosis of language therapist, which included several alterations of speech through the test of Melgar. We employed the Chi-square statistical test to determine the association of variables. Results: we found the association between the phonological changes in the fricative phonemes F, S, Z and the premature loss of anterosuperior teeth, but not of the fricative phonemes J , Y. Conclusions: relationship exists between the alteration of fricative phonemes F, S, Z and the premature loss of anterosuperior teeth, but not of fricative phonemes J, Y.
