ABSTRACT

The research focused on the relationship between faculty members' participation in three decision-making dimensions namely educational, administrative and research which their moral dimensions including belongingness, identification and rationality. The rate of faculty members' participation was studied based on such demographic variables as gender, specialty and rank, seniority and employment status. A descriptive and correlation coefficient research method was employed. The statistical sample consisted of 165 faculty members who were selected through a multi-stage sampling method from the two universities. The research data were collected through two researcher-made questionnaires: 1. participation in decision-making and 2. morale measurement questionnaire. The questionnaire reliability was measure with Cronback-Alpha coefficient method. The questionnaire validity was determined based on content validity and internal validity was analyzed. The results revealed that there was a relationship between the degree of faculty members' participation in administrative decision-makings and their morale level. Participation in educational decision-makings correlated with high belongingness. Also faculty members' participation in administrative decision-makings increased the rationality dimension of their morale. Also there was a relationship between the degree of faculty members' participation in research decision-makings and the identification dimension of their morale. The highest degree of faculty members' participation in administrative decision makings was in the area of research and the least rate of participation pertained to educational decision-makings. Furthermore, the ranking of the three dimensions of morale in the sample showed that the level of their morale with respect to rational dimension was higher and was lower with respect to belongingness

ABSTRACT

It is important for hospital managers to be aware of their patients' and staff's knowledge of patients' rights in order to improve patient satisfaction. This research was planned to investigate the level of knowledge and observation of Tamin Ejtemaee medical centers' staff according to patients' rights declaration. In this descriptive study, the target population included all nurses and doctors working for Tamin Ejtemaee Organization in the city of Esfahan. Through a stratified probabilistic sampling, 160 nurses, 90 doctors and 170 patients were selected. Data were collected through a questionnaire with 52 questions. Questionnaire validity was assessed via expert review with an Alfa-Cronbach ratio equal to 0.96 for reliability. Data were finally analyzed using descriptive and analytical methods. The collected information revealed that knowledge and observation of the studied population on patients' rights particularly in terms of respect and supportive care standards were higher than average, while it was lower than average for observing hospital rules, reasonable reaction to patients' complaints and conflicts, providing necessary information providing care in all circumstances, and consistency in care provision. There is considerable divergence between patients' views on one hand and doctors' and nurses' views on the other hand according to patients' rights declaration
