Smoking accelerates and aggravates atherosclerosis and increases the risk of coronary artery disease and its clinical manifestations (unstable angina, acute myocardial infarction and sudden death), cerebrovascular diseasea, aortic aneurysms and peripheral artery occlusive diseases.
