ABSTRACT
En este trabajo se mencionan significativos aspectos de la vida y obra del destacado doctor en ciencias médicas José Miguel Goderich Lalán, especialista en cirugía general de primer y segundo grados, Profesor de Mérito e Investigador Titular de la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Santiago de Cuba. Durante varios años fue el Presidente de la Sociedad Cubana de Cirugía y sus logros en la asistencia, docencia e investigación determinaron un sello científico en esta rama del conocimiento, sobre todo en las temáticas de las hernias incisionales e inguinales, por lo cual se ha convertido en referente para muchos profesores e investigadores del mundo
Significant life and work aspects of the outstanding medical sciences doctor José Miguel Goderich Lalán are mentioned in this work; specialist in first and second degrees in general surgery, Merit Professor and Qualified Investigator of the University of Medical Sciences in Santiago de Cuba. During several years he was President of the Cuban Society of Surgery and his achievements in assistance, teaching and investigation determined a scientific hallmark in this branch of knowledge, mainly in the thematic of incisional and inguinal hernias, reason why he has become reference for many professors and investigators of the world
