ABSTRACT
Se describe una filariosis de la mama izquierda; afección rara en Cuba, pero no así en otras latitudes, entre ellas África, donde abunda el parásito Wuchereria bancrofti. En esta paciente, la localización en la mama y su enorme aumento tendían a confundir ese crecimiento descomunal con un proceso maligno, pero la extirpación de la glándula y el análisis de la muestra biópsica confirmaron que se trataba de una enfermedad benigna.
A filariasis of the left breast is described, a rare disease in Cuba, but not in other latitudes, including Africa, where the parasite Wuchereria bancrofti is frequent. In this patient the location in the breast and its remarkable increase led to confuse that enormous growth with a malignancy, but the removal of the gland and examination of the biopsy specimen confirmed that it was a benign disease.
