ABSTRACT

Objective@#To explore the effect of proprioception combined with core stability training on the static balance ability and dynamic balance ability of college students, and to provide an experimental basis for studying body balance ability and preventing sports injuries.@*Methods@#In August 2019, 112 non sports students from Shandong Institute of Physical Education were recruited, and 52 subjects were selected as the intervention group and 60 as the control group by random number table method. The intervention group was given proprioceptive training combined with core stability training, while the control group was given core stability training. The static and dynamic balance abilities of the two groups of subjects before and after training were compared.@*Results@#The static balance ability of the intervention group was higher than that before the intervention ( F =2.17, P <0.05) at the 5th and 11th weeks, which were 18.31% and 47.37% higher, respectively. The ability to stand on one foot with eyes closed at the 11th week in the intervention group was higher than that in the control group at the 11th week( t =2.25, P <0.05). After training, the equilibrioception of the intervention group was improved, increasingly improved in the 11th week. And compared with that in intervention group in the 5th and 11th week, the ability was also higher than the balance ability of the intervention group before the intervention( F =2.37, P <0.01), 12.01% and 12.99% higher, respectively.@*Conclusion@#Proprioception and core stability training can effectively improve the static and dynamic balance ability of college students, and the training effect of proprioceptive training combined with core stability training is better than that of core stability training.

ABSTRACT

?AIM:To study the changes of ocular surface in cataract patients with Meibomian gland dysfunction ( MGD) who treated with Meibomian gland massage before surgery.?METHODS: Totally 90 patients ( 93 eyes ) with cataract and MGD were randomly divided into two groups. Patients in experimental group were treated with hot compress and Meibomian gland massage every day before surgery, while the patients in the control group were not taken. Two groups of patients received phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation. Lid margin abnormalities, secretion characteristics, Schimer I test ( SⅠt) and tear film break-up time ( BUT ) were recorded and compared between two groups using slit lamp microscope inspection preoperatively and postoperatively 1wk.?RESULTS:In the control group, the postoperative score of eyelid margin and Meibomian gland secretion was increased significantly than preoperative, while the value of BUT and SⅠt was down significantly. Compared with control group, the postoperative score of eyelid margin shape and Meibomian gland secretion in the experimental group was decreased significantly, while the value of BUT and SIT improved significantly (P<0. 05).?CONCLUSION: Phacoemulsification can aggravate the Meibomian gland dysfunction and have some extent of effects on the ocular surface. Meibomian gland massage before surgery can significantly improve the function of Meibomian gland and the state of ocular surface in patients with MDG.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the effect of swimming and caressing on neonatal jaundice and weight.Methods Two hundred and forty newborns were divided equally into control and observation group with random digits table.The former received care with caressing and the latter with swimming and caressing.The two groups were compared in terms of weights and jaundice indices at birth and 7d after birth.Results Seven days after birth,the jaundice index in the observation group were lower than that of the control group and the weights of the observation group were larger(P<0.05).Conclusion Swimming and caressing are helpful for the development of neonates by C-sect and the reduction of jaundice duration.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the effects of valsartan on expression of angiotensin II receptors in different regions of heart after myocardial infarction (MI).</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Canines were divided into sham-operated control group (n=7), infarction group (n=7) and Valsartan group (10 mg x kg(-1) x day(-1) for 4 weeks after MI operation, n=7). Four weeks after operation, Doppler tissue imaging (DTI) was used to evaluate regional ventricular function in the noninfarcted myocardium (apical and basal near to the infarction region). The mRNA and protein expressions of angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1-R) and angiotensin II type 2 receptor (AT2-R) on the corresponding regions were detected by competitive reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction technique and immunohistochemical technique respectively. Results The protein and mRNA expressions of AT1-R were significantly increased in both apical and basal regions near to the infarction in dogs with MI compared with those in control group (P < 0.05) which could be downregulated by valsartan (P < 0.05). AT2-R expressions were significantly upregulated in infarction group in both apical and basal regions compared with those in control group and valsartan further increased AT2-R expressions in both areas (P < 0.05). Myocardial peak systolic velocity (Sm), myocardial peak early diastolic velocity (Em) and myocardial peak late diastolic velocity (Am) at both apical and basal regions near to the infarction regions were significantly lower in MI group than those in the control group which could be significantly improved by valsartan.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Both mRNA and protein expressions of AT1-R and AT2-R are upregulated in noninfarcted regions near MI, valsartan improved myocardial function via inhibiting AT1-R upregulation and enhancing AT2-R upregulation.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To evaluate the effect of Gengnianchun Recipe (GNC) on learning memory function and its regulatory effect on hippocampal cholinergic system in ovariectomized rats.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Female rats 10-12 months old were randomized into 5 groups, the sham-operation group, the model group treated with normal saline, the positive control group treated with Nilestriol, and the two GNC groups treated with high and low dose GNC respectively. A little fat around ovary was cut in the sham-operation group. The treatment lasted for 12 weeks after ovariectomy. Changes of learning memory function were tested by Morris water maze; serum level of estradiol (E2) was measured by chemical fluorescent method; hippocampal acetylcholinesterase (AChE) mRNA was determined with Real-time PCR; and the activities of acetylcholine (ACh), AChE and choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) in hippocampus were detected by immunohistochemistry respectively.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Twelve weeks after ovariectomy, serum E2 and learning memory function markedly decreased in the ovariectomized rats (P < 0.01, P < 0.05). Nilestriol and high dose GNC showed an effect in improving the symptoms of learning memory functional deprivation and elevating the activities of hippocampal ACh, AChE and ChAT (all P < 0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>GNC can improve learning memory function of ovariectomized rats, and its mechanism might be realized by regulating the cholinergic system in hippocampus.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To observe therapeutic effect of electroacupuncture (EA) at Jiaji (EX-B 2) combined with laser needle-knife on lumbar disc herniation.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>One hundred and twenty cases of lumbar disc herniation were divided into an Jiaji EA group, a laser needle-knife group and a combination group (Jiaji EA plus laser needle-knife) according to random number table. Changes of symptoms at different stages before and after treatment were investigated with SF-MPQ cumulative scores.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>All the 115 cases completed all of the study, SF-MPQ score in the combination group was significantly lower than those in the Jiaji EA group and the laser needle-knife group (P<0. 01, P<0.05), with a significant difference at the end of treatment of 2 weeks (P<0.01) between the laser needle-knife group and the Jiaji EA group, and with no significant difference at treatment of 1 week and 3 weeks (P>0.05). The recurrence rate at a half year later in the combination group was significantly lower than those in laser needle-knife group and the Jiaji EA group (P<0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>EA at Jiaji (EX-B 2) combined with laser needle-knife can significantly increase clinical therapeutic effect, alleviate pain of the patient and reduce recurrence.</p>

ABSTRACT

The effects of illumination on growth of Anabaena sp. IB02 and hTNF-alpha expression were studied. Photosynthetic activity, PS I and PS II activity of Anabaena sp. IB02 were assayed. Illumination enhanced the growth of Anabaena sp. IB02 and hTNF-a expression. Some relations were observed between hTNF-alpha expression and ture photosynthesis activity, PS I, PS II activity of Anabaena sp. IB02. Significant differences of the photosynthetic activity of host were detected simultaneously when hTNF-a expressed: the respiration rate increased (-68%), the light saturation point descended (+66%), all these suggested that the metabolic charge of host were increased and grow faster than wild type under low illumination.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>AIM</b>To study the quantitative structure-activity relationship ( QSAR) of 23 tetrahydroimidazobenzodiazepinone (TIBO) as anti-HIV drug.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>A newly developed three-dimensional holographic vector of atomic interaction field (3D-HoVAIF) was used to describe the chemical structure of anti-HIV drug-23 TIBO, a partial least square regression (PLS) model was built.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The obtained model with the cumulative multiple correlation coefficient (Rcum(2)), cumulative cross-validated (Qcum(2)) and standard error of estimation (SD) were Rcum(2) = 0. 824, Qcum(2) = 0.778 and SD = 0.56, respectively. The model had favorable estimation stability and good prediction capabilities.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Satisfactory results showed that 3D-HoVAIF with definite physic-chemical meanings and easy structural interpretation for structural characterization could preferably express information related to biological activity of TIBO.</p>

ABSTRACT

Statistic-based experimental design was used to optimize the culture conditions for Pseudomonas aeruginosa ME16 strain which is capable of utilizing methane.Effects of inoculum volume,temperature,methane content,and initial pH of media on cell growth were studied with the medium of mineral salt and methane gas,and the response surface methodology(RSM) was then used to optimize culture conditions.The optimum conditions were as follows:temperature of 29.4℃,inoculum volume of 1.8% and methane content of 25%.Under the optimized culture conditions,the ME16 production was increased by 0.8 times and its cultivation time was reduced.The removal of methane gas by ME16 was preliminary investigated,and the removal rate of methane gas reached 65.7%.The results indicated that the strain was capable of removing of methane.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To probe into effect of scalp acupuncture combined with sports therapy on movement function of limbs in the patient of poststroke hemiplegia.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>One hundred and twenty cases of poststroke hemiplegia were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, 60 cases in each group. The observation group were treated by scalp acupuncture and the control group by simple sports therapy. The movement function of limbs were assessed by Fugl-Meyer rating method and Barthel index.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The movement function of limbs and ability of daily life after treatment in the observation group improved very significantly as compared with the control group (P < 0.01).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Scalp acupuncture combined with sports therapy can promote recovery of the movement function of limbs in the patient of poststroke hemiplegia.</p>

ABSTRACT

Based on the characteristics of metabolism of photosynthetic bacteria and the major kinds of organic compounds produced in wastewater degradation, eleven kinds of organic compounds were chosen for hydrogen photoproduction using Rhodopseudomonas palustris Z strain. The maximal volumetric H2 productivity was obtained using acetate as the sole carbon source and electron donor. The kinetics of cell growth and H2 liberation, and the influences of several major limiting factors on photoevolution of H2 were examined using acetate as carbon source. It was shown that hydrogen production was partially correlated with cell growth. The medium composition of the preculture, the preculture time, and inoculation volume were confirmed to have big effects on hydrogen photoevolution. The time delay of H2 production was evidently shortened using the inoculum of late exponential growth phase or stationary phase using ammonium sulfate as nitrogen source or with the inoculum of middle exponential growth phase using glutamate as the nitrogen source. The identity of temperature and light intensity for H2 evolution and cell growth has significant potential application in the technology of splitting organic acid into H2 by photosynthetic bacteria. The concentrations of acetate and glutamate in the medium affected hydrogen photoevolution and cell growth significantly. The productivity of H2 increased with substrate concentrations when substrate concentrations of sodium acetate and sodium glutamate were lower than 70 mmol/L and 15 mmol/L, respectively. Hydrogen production was inhibited but the cell growth was faster when the concentration of sodium glutamate over 15 mmol/L due to forming free NH4+. The highest rate of hydrogen production was 19.4 mL.L-1.h-1 using 30 mmol/L of sodium acetate as hydrogen donor under the standard conditions, respectively. The optimal conditions for hydrogen production were 35-37 degrees C, 6000-8000 lx and pH 7.3-8.3. The effects of oxygen and inoculation volume on photoproduction of hydrogen were also discussed.

ABSTRACT

Mutagenesis and screening of hydrogen-producing photosynthetic bacteria,Rhodobacter sp.R7 strain,was investigated by using the combination mutation of ultraviolet ray and LiCl and layer plating methods.A carotenoid mutant named R726 strain was obtained.The plate phenotype properties in carotenoid mutant were different from that of parent strains.Living cells spectra showed that absorption peak of 550 nm was appeared in carotenoid mutant,but not in parent strain.The absorption spectra of extraction of pigment further confirmed the difference of carotenoid composition between the mutant and parent strains.The result of TLC on silica gel plate showed that mutant has a lack of yellow carotenoid composition which occurs in parent strain.H_2 productivity and biomass in carotenoid mutant was higher than that of parent strain.These results revealed that mutant has a modified carotenoid biosynthesis pathway.

ABSTRACT

Carotenoids play an important role in regulating the hydrogen production of hydrogen-producing Rhodobacter sp. The carotenoids of hydrogen-producing Rhodobacter sp. grown in acetate medium were extracted by using acetone-methanol (7∶2,V/V) solvent and were separated by using thin-layer chromatography on silica-gel plate. The qualitative and quantitative of the carotenoids were analyzed by spectrometry. The results showed that the carotenoids were completely extracted three times with acetone-methanol (7∶2,V/V) in two hours. The ultrasonication had little effect on yield of carotenoids. The yield of carotenoids was 2.81mg/g wet cell. There were 4 spots on the silica-gel plate in the order of yellow, red, light red and light yellow. Yellow spot and red spot were the dominant composition of carotenoid in Rhodobacter sp. The spectrometry data showed that the yellow and red component might be the spheroidene and spirilloanthin respectively.
