ABSTRACT

Objective@#To investigate the expression of B7H3 and B7H4 in T lymphoblastic lymphoma/leukemia (T-LBL/ALL) in correlation with clinicopathological parameters and patient prognosis.@*Methods@#Immunohistochemistry (IHC) was used to detect the expression of B7H3 and B7H4 protein in 100 cases of T-LBL/ALL(test group) and 30 cases of lymph node reactive hyperplasia (LH) (control group), diagnosed at Shanxi Cancer Hospital from January 2001 to June 2017. Real-time RT-PCR was used to detect the mRNA expression of B7H3 and B7H4 in 50 cases of T-LBL/ALL and 30 cases of LH (control group).@*Results@#There were 79 males,21 females. Immunohistochemical results showed that the expression rates of B7H3 and B7H4 were 23%(23/100) and 54%(54/100), respectively. By real-time RT-PCR, the relative expression of B7H3 mRNA in the T-LBL/ALL group was 2.5 times of that of the LH group. The expression levels of B7H4 mRNA in T-LBL/ALL group and LH group were extremely low.Single factor analysis showed that B7H3 protein expression in T-LBL/ALL group was associated with B symptoms and primary nodal disease (P<0.05). B7H4 protein expression was associated with mediastinal broadening and bone marrow involvement (P<0.05). B7H3 protein, B7H3 mRNA, B7H4 protein expression and IPI score were associated with prognosis (P<0.05), and the combined expression of B7H3 and B7H4 was associated with T-LBL/ALL prognosis (P<0.05). Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that overexpression of B7H3 mRNA was an independent risk factor for the prognosis of patients with T-LBL/ALL (P<0.05).@*Conclusion@#Expression of B7H3 and B7H4 is closely corelated with clinicopathological parameters and prognosis of patients with T-LBL/ALL, suggesting that B7H3 and B7H4 expression play an important role in the development of T-LBL/ALL.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the impact of internal carotid artery stenosis on cognitive function of patients and the improvement of cognitive function after internal carotid artery stenting. Methods The clinical data of 92 patients with asymptomatic internal carotid artery stenosis on segment C1 segment diagnosed by cerebral angiography at the Department of Neurology,Urumqi General Hospital of Lanzhou Military Hospital from May 2007 to June 2013 were analyzed retrospectively, including 49 with moderate stenosis and 43 with severe stenosis. Thirty-one patients had stenting. The enrolled patients were evaluated with the Montreal Cognitive Scale (MoCA)score and the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score, and the improvement of the MoCA score at 3 month after stenting was evaluated. Results (1)The MoCA score of the severe stenosis group was lower than that of the moderate stenosis group(22. 6 ± 2. 9 vs. 27. 4 ± 2. 3,P0.05);3 months after stenting, the MoCA score (25. 4 ± 2. 7)of the stenting group was significantly better than that of the non-stenting group (22. 2 ± 2. 8). There was significant difference (P<0. 01);and after stenting, the proportion of patients with the MoCA score <26 (48. 4%,15/31)was significantly lower than those of the non-stenting (83. 3%,10/12,P=0. 037). Conclusion Severe stenosis of internal carotid artery may cause cognitive dysfunction. Carotid artery stenting is conducive to improve cognitive function in patients with severe stenosis.

ABSTRACT

Fresh roots of healthy four-year-old American ginseng were randomly divided into two groups and stored for 180 days in sand without washing (treatment A) and in plastic bag with preservative after washing (treatment B), and sampled after 45, 90, 135 and 180 days of storage, respectively. The incidence of disease was surveyed and the contents of ginsenoside, polysaccharide, and free amino acids of roots were determined. The results indicats that the disease of ginseng could be controlled better by the treatment B than by the treatment A within 45 days, but the better effect was achieved in the treatment A after storage for 45 days. Both storage methods had significant influence on the contents of ginsenoside, polysaccharide and free amino acids of roots. For the treatment A, the ginsenoside content of roots had remained relatively high during the storage period, and the crude polysaccharide and free amino acids changed slowly within 135 days and then increase significantly until 180 days. For the treatment B, the content of crude polysaccharide of roots decreased obviously after 90 days of storatge and then became stable until 135 days. The change of content of free amino acids was similar to the crude polysaccharide, but the decline was not significant. In general, the treatment A is more benefit to keep the quality of fresh roots of American Ginseng during 180 days of storage.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>BACKGROUND</b>To explore the possibility of the staging of pulmonary angiography with multi slice spiral CT (MSCT) and to evaluate its value in making surgical plan for patients with lung cancer.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>MSCT with two-segment injection and three-protocol scan was performed in 73 patients with central type lung cancer. According to the site and degree, the involvement of pulmonary artery was divided into three grades and blindly compared with the surgery and pathology.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>MSCT in 68 cases (93.15%, 68/73) was successfully performed. The involvement of central pulmonary artery was grade I in 4 cases (5.88%, 4/68), grade II in 9 (13.23%, 9/68), and grade III in 55 (80.88%, 55/68). All patients with grade I underwent lobectomy. There was remarkable difference of lobectomy ratio between grade II and III (Chi-square=64.03, P < 0.005) and also between IIIa and IIIb (Chi-square=68.69, P < 0.005). All patients with grade IIIc were ruled out from surgery.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>The staging of pulmonary angiography by MSCT is useful to demonstrate the site and degree of involvement of central pulmonary artery and provides more precise evidence of images for making surgical plan.</p>

ABSTRACT

In order to achieve correct diagnosis of lung cancer for therapeutic planning, it is important to apply the new international TNM staging system. CT can be helpful in diagnosis and staging of lung cancer with regard to evaluation of the primary tumor and mediastinal lymph nodes and in the search for sites of distant metastasis. Therefore, CT is the most important supplementary examination for lung cancer, which can give further observation of the invading standard of large bronchus, vessels, lymph nodes and pleura, which might provide more valuable information for TNM staging.PET CT image fusion permits superior localization of lung cancer. The relation between anatomic and metabolic volume is more complex. Combined PET/CT and image fusion will improve the TNM classification in preoperative staging of lung cancer which may result as the best non invasive method.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate accuracy of density measurements within coronary plaque by multi-slice spiral CT and factors that influence measurements. Methods Four adult cadaver hearts were used. Thrombus and pericardial fat which acquired from specimen (size 2.0, 1.5, 1.0 and 0.5 mm respectively) were placed into coronary artery to simulate coronary plaques. The contrast medium (three different concentrations 1: 30, 1:40, and 1:50) were injected into coronary artery. The raw date were reconstructed with two slice width ( 1. 00 and 0. 75 mm). Results When contrast medium concentrations was 1: 30, the CT values of thrombus were 109 HU ( slice width 1. 00 mm, size 2. 0 mm) , 115 HU ( slice width 1.00 mm, size 1.5 mm), 101 HU (slice width 0.75 mm, size 2.0 mm), 113 HU ( slice width 0. 75 mm,size 1. 5 mm) ; the CT values of fat were - 23 HU ( slice width 1. 00 mm, size 2. 0 mm) , -17 HU(slice width 1.00 mm, size 1.5 mm) , -9 HU(slice width 1.00 mm, size 1.0 nun), -27 HU ( slice width 0.75 mm, size 2. 0 mm) , - 19 HU (slice width 0.75 mm, size 1. 5 mm) , - 13 HU (slice width 0. 75 mm,size 1. 0 mm). When contrast medium concentrations was 1: 40, the CT values of thrombus were 79 HU( slice width 1.00 mm,size 2.0 mm) , 87 HU( slice width 1.00 mm, size 1. 5 mm) , 115 HU( slice width 1. 00 mm,size 1. 0 mm) , 73 HU(slice width 0. 75 mm,size 2. 0 mm) , 80 HU(slice width 0. 75 mm, size 1. 5 mm) , 110 HU( slice width 0. 75 mm, size 1. 0 mm) ; the CT values of fat were - 31 HU ( slice width 1. 00 mm, size 2. 0 mm) , - 22 HU ( slice width 1. 00 mm, size 1. 5 mm) , - 10 HU ( slice width 1.00 mm,size 1.0 mm) , -35 HU(slice width 0. 75 mm,size 2.0 mm) , -25 HU(slice width 0. 75 mm, size 1. 5 mm) , - 19 HU ( slice width 0. 75 mm, size 1. 0 mm). When contrast medium concentrations was 1:50, the CT values of thrombus were 53 HU ( slice width 1. 00 mm, size 2. 0 mm) , 60 HU ( slice width 1.00 mm,size 1.5 mm) ,63 HU(slice width 1.00 mm,size 1.0 mm) ,51 HU(slice width 0.75 mm,size 2. 0 mm) ,64 HU( slice width 0. 75 mm,size 1. 5 mm) ,67 HU( slice width 0. 75 mm,size 1. 0 mm) ,145 HU (slice width 0. 75 mm, size 0. 5 mm) ; the CT values of fat were - 39 HU ( slice width 1. 00 mm, size 2. 0 mm) , -28 HU( slice width 1. 00 mm,size 1. 5 mm) , - 22 HU( slice width 1. 00 mm,size 1. 0 mm) , 17 HU(slice width 1. 00 mm,size 0. 5 mm) , -41 HU(slice width 0. 75 mm,size 2. 0 mm), -36 HU(slice width 0. 75 mm, size 1. 5 mm ) , - 27 HU ( slice width 0. 75 mm, size 1. 0 mm ) , 3 HU ( slice width 0. 75 mm, size 0. 5 mm ) . The density values of thrombus were correlated with size ( t = - 6. 624, P 0. 05) not found statistically significant may be caused by both too close slice width (1.0 mm and 0. 75 mm) and few samples. The slice width(t= -2. 595,P
