ABSTRACT

Primary breast angiosarcoma is a rare type of breast malignancy accounting for only 0.04% of all malignant breast tumors. It usually occurs in third to fourth decade and reported mainly in women and rarely in men. The histological features of angiosarcomas of the breast are conventionally grade I, II or III. Total mastectomy appears to be the main stay of treatment conferring benefit, chemotherapy and radiation therapy being of little proven value to date. The prognosis remains poor irrespective of grade of tumor.

ABSTRACT

Pilomatricoma is an uncommon, harmless, skin lesion derived from hair matrix cells. It is also spelled 'pilomatrixoma' and sometimes known as 'calcifing epithelioma of malherbe'. It is most often diagnosed in young children but may also affect adults. Single skin-coloured or purplish lesions arised on the head and neck, but they may occur on any site. They are characterized by calcification within the lesion, which makes it feel hard and bony. FNAC can help us in the diagnosis but excisional biopsy and histopathological examination is recommended for confirmation and curative treatment. We present a rare case of pilomatricoma of the digit in an adult female.

ABSTRACT

Pattern of a particular disease in any population is studied with the idea of getting information about the clinical presentation, the varied morphology and the aetiological factors that can be assessed in relation to the prognosis. Our study was undertaken with the view to getting information about the prevalence , clinical presentation and morphological patterns of the tumors of the male genital tract..A total number of 111 histological proven cases of male genital tumors diagnosed over a period of 11 years were studied. The overall prevalence rate of male genital tumors was 0.94/1000 surgical admissions for histologically proven cases. The peak prevalence of male genital tumors was seen in the age group of 51-60 years.Penile cancers were the most commonly encountered malignancies accounting for 39.63% followed by prostatic adenocarcinomas 35.13%. Third in frequency were testicular tumors 34.32%. A single case (0.9%) of adenomatoid tumor of epididymis was seen.

ABSTRACT

Dissociated vertical deviation (DVD) is an enigmatic strabismus entity for which various theories of causation have been proposed. Commonly seen in association with infantile esotropia, it responds unpredictably to surgical intervention hence fuelling theories for a supranuclear center defect albeit at the midbrain level. Cases of DVD associated with A- pattern eso or exotropia and superior oblique overaction have been reported, although rarely. We report a case of bilateral congenital ptosis associated with this complex. Not reported earlier, we hope this case may help in better understanding of the obscure etiology of this symptom complex.

ABSTRACT

The present study was undertaken to find out the incidence of convergence insufficiency in patients presenting in eye OPD with chief complaints of headache. Only patients with normal visual acuity and fundus picture were included in this study. All the 100 patients included in this study were subjected to detailed orthoptic examination which included tests for near point of convergence by RAF, Maddox rod tests and synaptophore examination. It was found that a substantial number of patients had convergence insufficiency and maximum no. of such patients (49%) were in the age group of 20-40 years. The sudy highlights the importance of ortoptic examination in all patients of strain and headache.
