ABSTRACT

A clinicocardiological assessment of 100 psoriatic patients, 50 males and 50 females, revealed that 13 patients had psoriatic arthritis. Two modes of presentation of psoriatic arthritis were encountered. One mode was entirely radiological without any clinical clue of the presence of arthritis, in ten patients, and one mode was entirely clinical without any radiological findings, in three patients. The male to female ratio was 9:4 and the mean age was 42.8 years, being 46 years for males and 35.5 years for females. The majority of the arthritis patients had severe cutaneous lesions and there was a preponderance of nail lesions in these patients. The psoriatic skin lesion was of the vulgaris-plaque type in eight patients, of the vulgaris-nummular type in two patients and of the erythrodermic type in three patients
