ABSTRACT

During the year 1980-1981, 12 cases of allergic dermatoses of occupational origin had been recorded among industrial workers in linen textile industry in Mehalla El-Kobra, Gharbia governorate with a prevalence rate of [0.28%]. The highest frequency of occupational allergic dermatoses occurred in El-Segini factory. Young workers were more susceptible than older ones to the development of occupational allergic dermatoses. The highest frequency of cases was found to be in the departement of dyeing and printing.The workers had got no allergic dermatitis of occupational origrn in the departements of breaking and scutching, and rettling and harvesting. The vat dye was the predominant type of causative agents. The crude linen was not found to be a skin sensitizer
