ABSTRACT

Objective To improve the clinical diagnosis and prognosis of the treatment of primary liver carcinoma with bone metastasis. Methods A retrospective study on diagnosis and treatment of bone metastasis from 55 cases of primary liver carcinoma was developed.Survival rates were calculated by Kaplan-meier meth-od,univariates analysed by Log-rank and multivariates analysed by Cox regression. Results The 1-,2-and 3-year cumulative survival rates of the cases from primary liver carcinoma were 54.5%,25.5%and 16.4%re-spectively.The mediate survival time was 13 months. And the cases with bone metastasis were 23.6%,10.9%and 1.8%respectively.The mediate survival time was 5.5 months.Factors such as metastasis to other organs,liv-er function, and the combined modality therapy were independent prognostic factors. While number of bone metas-tasis,AFP level and number of liver cancer had no significant relations with the survival rate. Conclusion The prognosis of bone metastasis from primary liver carcinoma is poor.It is important to take emphasis on combined mo-dality therapy, which may be benefit on reducing the symptom, improving the quality and prolong the life span.

ABSTRACT

As the research on the signal transduction pathway of tumor is developing, people has become more aware of the confusion of the signal transduction mechanisms on the tumor cells and their effects on tumor growth, apoptosis, and metastasis. Currently, the research that Chinese medicine and its extract inducing apoptosis and angiogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma by acting on the signal transduction pathway has made gratifying progress. In this article, we will provide an overview of recent literature about this.

ABSTRACT

Solid tumor growth and metastasis depends on angiogenesis.Anti-angiogenesis cancer therapy research has become one of the hot topics.Studies have shown that many kinds of Chinese medicine have an effectiveness of anti-tumor angiogenesis. It is one of the most important mechanisms to anti-tumor Chinese medicine.Chinese medicine on the anti-tumor angiogenesis research in recent years will be reviewed.

ABSTRACT

The occurrence of liver cancer is a multi-phase and multi-factor process, while Chinese medicine used for antitumor is all-round with multiple approaches. This summary is a literature review which elaborates the prevention and treatment of Chinese medicine to the molecular mechanism of liver cancer in eight aspects, such as inhibiting the proliferation of hepatoma cell, inducing their differentiation, affecting the activity of telomerase, resisting the invasion and metastasis of hepatoma cell, inhibiting the formation of tumor vessel, adjusting the immunity function, and reversing the multidrug resistance, etc.

ABSTRACT

The article reviewed the progress in the research of antitumor activities and mechanisms of Marsdenia tenacissima. Its origin producing area and antitumor constituents were analyzed. The herb possessed extensive antitumor effects in experimental and clinical applications. It provides theoretical evidences for study on constituents in this traditional Chinese medicine. Futher studies on the species in M. tenacissima are needed for better medicinal utilization.

ABSTRACT

Purpose:To explore the effects and mechanisms o f anti-invasion and anti-metastasis of ginsenoside Rg3 on human hepatocellular carcinoma cells. Methods:To select human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line SMMC -7721 and the human allantoic veins endothelial cell line ECV304 as the study objects. We observed the effet of ginsenoside Rg3’s effect on the growth of SM MC-7721 and ECV304 by MTT methods, the adhesion of SMMC-7721 and Fibronectin by cell adhesion experiment, the expression of gene protein of nm23,CD44 and VEGF by immunohisto-chemical method. Results:Ginsenoside Rg3 could inhibit not only the growth of SM MC-7721 and ECV304 significantly, but also the adhesion of SMMC-7721 and FN. I t might also down-regulate the expression of CD44, VEGF and up-regulate the nm 23 gene expression. Conclusions:Ginsenoside Rg3 can inhibit invasion and metastasis of the hepatic carcinoma cell. The mechanisms are probably that Ginsenoside Rg3 can inhibit the hepatic carcinoma cells’ invasion activity, regulate the expres sion of the gene proteins which are closely related with invasion and metastasis ,inhibit neovasularization.
