ABSTRACT

Objective: To evaluate the predictive value of plasma amino-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) on short term prognosis in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Methods: Plasma NT-proBNP levels were measured in ACS patients within 24 h after admission with ELISA method. The 600 ACS patients were divided into two groups: event group (n=108)and no-event group (n=492)according to occurrence of cardiovascular events(including cardiac death, cardiac shock and heart failure), The NT-proBNP levels were compared between two groups. Single factor and multiple factor Logistic regression analyses were used to evaluate if NT-proBNP was an independent predictor for short term prognosis. Results: The plasma NT-proBNP levels of event group were significantly higher than those of no-event group [1361.2 (965.3, 2088.6) pmol/L vs.605.7 (274.5, 1177.8) pmol/L, p<0.01]. Multiple factor Logistic regression analyses demonstrated that plasma NT-proBNP was an independent predictor for short term prognosis (OR=1.000, p<0.01) in ACS patients. Conclusion: Plasma NT-proBNP was an independent predictor for short term prognosis in ACS patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the prevalence of AIDS among pregnant women and sexual transmitted disease ( STD) outpatients and their behavioral characteristics in Yingcheng. Methods According to the requirement of The implementation scheme for sentinel surveillance of HIV infection in China , the questionnaire surveys were conducted respectively among 400 pregnant women and 361 STD outpatients, and blood samples were taken from them for HIV, syphilis and hepatitis C virus (HCV) test. Results A total of 761 people were surveyed in 2010, among them no one were detected to be HIV positive 0% ) , 4 were detected to be infected with syphilis (0. 5% ) , 1 were detected to be infected with HCV (0. 1% ). Conclusion The infection of HIV in Yingcheng has been controlled well. The prominent high risk behavior of AIDS spreading in Yingcheng is heterosexual behavior. The men aged 40 are AIDS high-risk people and AIDS intervention focus people. Furthermore, it is very important to carry out publicity and education activities on AIDS to the immigrant laborers and the floating population.

ABSTRACT

Objective To compare the efficacy of sevoflurane-remifentanil and propofol-remifentanil anesthesia in elderly patients undergoing radical gastrectomy for cancer. Methods Sixty ASA Ⅱ - Ⅲ patients aged 65-80 years old with gastric cancer were divided into sevoflurane group(group S) and propofol group (group P), 30 cases in each group.Perioperative hemodynamic variables, bispectral index( BIS ) values and the time of recovery from anesthesia, extubation and awake were recorded as well. Results Compared with those before anesthesia, diastolic blood pressure(DBP),mean arterial pressure(MAP), heart rate(HR) and BItS were signifieanfly decreased (P < 0.05 or < 0.01 ).SBP was higher at cutting skin in group S than that in group P (P < 0.05 ).The depths of anesthesia in both groups were maintained well with BIS in 45-60 and vital signs were stable during operation. The time of recovery from anesthesia, extubafion and awake were shorter in group S [(4.1±2.2),(5.4±2.1),(7.3±2.1)min]thanthoseingroupP [(7.5±3.2),(8.6± 4.2), ( 11.2 ± 4.1 ) min]( P < 0.05 or < 0.01 ).Conclusions Either sevoflurane-remifentanil and propofol-remifentanil anesthesia can be used safely in elderly patients undergoing radical gastrectomy for cancer.Sevotlurane-remifentanil combined with anesthesia provides better hemodynamic stability and faster recovery than propofol-remifentanil combined with anesthesia in elderly patients.
