Reflexiones sobre el programa de la asignatura Agentes Biológicos, de la carrera de Medicina / Meditations on the program of the subject Biological Agents, of the career of Medicine

Con el objetivo de fundamentar y orientar el perfeccionamiento del proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje de la asignatura Agentes Biológicos del cuarto semestre de la carrera de medicina, se realizó una valoración crítica del programa vigente de dicha asignatura, utilizando un método teórico de análisis de cada acápite del programa, desde de la fundamentación y objeto de estudio de la asignatura hasta su sistema de evaluación, teniendo en cuenta los objetivos generales y por temas, el sistema de conocimientos, incluyendo las habilidades y valores a desarrollar, así como las formas, métodos y medios de enseñanza. Se identificaron las insuficiencias del programa, se propuso el perfeccionamiento del mismo y se sugirieron recomendaciones para su transformación futura, teniendo en cuenta el perfil de salida del egresado de la carrera de Medicina

With the objective of basing and orienting the improvement of the teaching-learning process of the matter Biological Agents of the fourth semester of the career of Medicine, we made the critical assessment of the current program of the matter, using the theoretic method of analysis of each chapter of the program, from the founding and object of study of the matter to its evaluation system, taking into account the general objectives, and by themes, the knowledge system, including the skills and values to develop, and also the forms, methods an teaching aids. We identified the inadequacies of the program, proposed its improvement and made recommendations for its future transformation, keeping in mind the profile of the graduated of the career of Medicine

Una visión clínica sobre las enfermedades oportunistas y el SIDA / A clinical approach on opportunistic diseases and AIDS

El SIDA es la consecuencia de la infección por VIH, el cual infecta numerosas estirpes celulares, fundamentalmente aquéllas que expresan en su superficie el receptor CD4. Precisamente por ser el Sistema Inmune su blanco fundamental es que es capaz de producir una marcada inmunodeficiencia celular en los individuos infectados, lo cual lleva inexorablemente a la aparición de numerosas enfermedades infecciosas oportunistas las cuales, como su nombre lo indica, aprovechan oportunamente la situación inmunológica desfavorable creada. Teniendo en cuenta que el SIDA es considerado la Pandemia de los siglos XX y XXI, el impacto social que tiene y la importancia de su conocimiento para los profesionales de la salud decidimos hacer una compilación de información sobre las enfermedades oportunistas que con mayor frecuencia afectan al paciente con SIDA.

AIDS is the consequence of the HIV, infecting many cellular strains, mainly those expressing at their surface the coreceptor CD4. Precisely for being the Immune System its main target, it is able of inducing a remarkable cellular immunodeficiency in infected persons, inexorably leading to the beginning of many opportunistic infectious diseases that, as indicated by their definition, opportunely took advantage of the unfavorable situation created. Taking into account that AIDS is considered the Pandemic of the 20th and 21 st centuries, its social impact and the importance of its knowledge for health professionals, we decided to make a review of information on the opportunistic diseases that more frequently affect the AIDS patient.
