ABSTRACT

Background: During occurrence of events and disasters, hospitals are among the most vital units that their optimal and timely healthcare services could play a vital and determining role in reducing mortality and saving the injured. The present study was performed with the aim of investigating the rate of readiness of Gachsaran City hospitals against disasters. Methods: This study is a descriptive-cross sectional study that was conducted on 150 persons of treatment and non-treatment personnel of three hospitals of Shahid Rajaei, Besat and Bibi Hakimeh in Gachsaran City with simple random sampling method. Data collecting tool includes scholar – made questionnaire (with Likert range), assessing the rate of hospital readiness against disasters. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, ANOVA test and SPSS 24 software was used. Results: the results obtained the findings indicate that manager's awareness status against disasters in Besat, Bibi Hakimeh and Shahid Rajaei hospitals is respectively 3.72, 3 and 2.74 respectively that Besat and Shahid Rajaei hospitals with the highest and Shahid Rajaei with the lowest awareness status of managers against disasters. The average of human resources in Shahid Rajaei, Besat and Bibi Hakimeh hospitals are respectively 3.54, 3.46 and 3 that Rajaei is the greatest and Bibi Hakimeh is the lowest. Conclusion: it may be said that human resources are considered an effective factor in encountering natural disasters and trained and skillful people during occurrence of natural disasters could have an effective performance in reducing damages and financial and physical losses. So, Oil and Bibi Hakimeh Hospitals should have required readiness by planning for increasing their human resources volume.
