ABSTRACT
El cáncer de cuello de útero ocupa el cuarto lugar entre las 10 primeras localizaciones de cáncer y tiene gran repercusión, fundamentalmente en el orden psicológico de las pacientes. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo de las mujeres con cáncer de cuello de útero ingresadas en el servicio de radioterapia del Hospital Oncológico Provincial de Santiago de Cuba durante el primer semestre de 2002 con el objetivo de caracterizar al grupo según la edad, tipo de tratamiento, complicaciones y estadio clínico de la enfermedad. La muestra estuvo conformada por 50 pacientes que fueron la totalidad de los ingresos producidos en el período de estudio. Se revisaron todas las historias clínicas para obtener los datos de interés. El grupo de edad de 41 a 59 años fue predominante, el 96 por ciento de las mujeres recibieron tratamiento radiante externo, la radiodermitis fue la complicación más frecuente y en el estadio IIb se encontraron el mayor porcentaje de las pacientes con esta complicación. Sólo 3 mujeres no tuvieron ninguna complicación derivada de su tratamiento. Se espera que los resultados obtenidos sean de utilidad al personal de enfermería, del citado hospital y de otros, sobre todo durante la atención que brindan a las pacientes con cáncer cervicouterino que reciben radioterapia(AU)
The cancer of uterus neck occupies the fourth place among the first 10 cancer localizations and he/she has great repercussion, fundamentally in the psychological order of the patients. He/she was carried out a descriptive study of the women with cancer of uterus neck entered in the service of radiotherapy of the Hospital Provincial Oncológico of Santiago from Cuba during the first semester of 2002 with the objective of characterizing to the group according to the age, treatment type, complications and clinical stadium of the illness. The sample was conformed by 50 patients that were the entirety of the revenues taken place in the period of study. All the clinical histories were revised to obtain the data of interest. The age group of 41 to 59 years was predominant, 96 percent of the women received external radiant treatment, the radiodermitis was the most frequent complication and in the stadium IIb met the biggest percentage in the patients with this complication. 3 women didn't only have any derived complication of their treatment. It is expected that the obtained results are from utility to the infirmary personnel, of the mentioned hospital and of other, mainly during the attention that you/they offer to the patients with cancer cervicouterino that you/they receive radiotherapy(AU)
