ABSTRACT

An educational intervention was carried out in 29 professors of Pepito Tey School for Art Instructors from Santiago de Cuba to modify their knowledge of the prevention of the suicide attempt in adolescents, in the period between January - March, 2007, who consented to participate in it by means of their informed consent. An educational program was developed through different participative techniques and several topics were delivered on the risk factors that propitiate the suicidal behavior in that young population. Hypothesis tests were applied through the non parametric method from X2, with a significance level of 0,01 and the Mc Nemar technique, to measure the significant changes before and after the intervention. The educational actions were very effective, as all the teaching staff increased their general knowledge of the treated aspects.
