ABSTRACT
O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar as alterações dentoesqueléticas e tegumentares ao final do alinhamento e nivelamento em pacientes com má oclusão de Classe I tratados sem extrações com aparelhos autoligáveis. Foram avaliadas telerradiografias ao início e final do alinhamento e nivelamento de 29 pacientes com idade inicial média de 22,67 (DP±2,65) anos e idade final média de 24,01 (DP±2,59) anos. O tempo médio de alinhamento e nivelamento foi de 1,34 anos (DP±0,43). Os dados do início e final do alinhamento e nivelamento foram comparados estatisticamente pelo teste t dependente. Os resultados mostraram vestibularização e protrusão dos incisivos superiores, vestibularização dos incisivos inferiores, protrusão labial inferior e diminuição do ângulo interincisivos. O alinhamento e nivelamento com aparelhos autoligáveis promovem aumento das inclinações dos incisivos superiores e inferiores com alteração do perfil tegumentar.
The aim of this study was to evaluate dentoskeletal and soft tissue changes at the end of leveling in nonextraction patients with Class I malocclusion treated with self-ligated appliances. Initial and final cephalograms of 29 patients with initial and final mean ages of 22.67 (SD±2.65) and 24.1 (SD±2.59) years respectively, were evaluated. The average of leveling was 1.34 years (SD±0.43). The data of beginning and end of the leveling were statistically compared by dependent t-test. The results showed buccal tipping and protrusion of maxillary incisor, mandibular incisor buccal tipping, lower lip protrusion and decrease of interincisal angle. Leveling with self-ligated brackets promotes buccal tipping of maxillary and mandibular incisors with soft tissue changes.
