ABSTRACT

Objective:To analyze the effects of the primary location of colorectal cancer on the surgical outcome of liver metastases. Methods:A cross-sectional study was conducted on 178 patients with liver metastases from colorectal cancer admitted to Binzhou Central Hospital from January 2012 to January 2022. According to whether the patients had recurrence after surgery, they were divided into a recurrence group ( n = 88) and a control group ( n = 90). The general and clinical data were compared between the two groups. Logistic multivariate analysis of the factors with statistical significance was further performed to identify the risk factors of postoperative recurrence of liver metastases from colorectal cancer after surgery. The correlation between the primary location of colorectal cancer and each risk factor was analyzed. The recurrence of colorectal cancer was compared anong patients with different primary locations of colorectal cancer at 12 months after surgery. Results:Primary location at the right colon [55.68% (49/88), lymph node metastasis [92.05% (81/88)], D-dimer ≥ 180 μ g/L, albumin < 29 g/L, ineffective/no neoadjuvant chemotherapy [43.18% (33/38)], and high-risk clinical risk score [53.41% (47/88)] were risk factors for postoperative recurrence of liver metastases from colorectal cancer after surgery ( P = 0.024, 0.019, 0.001, 0.028, < 0.001, 0.001). The primary location of colorectal cancer was positively correlated with lymph node metastasis, D-dimer, and clinical risk score ( P = 0.043, 0.046, 0.030), and negatively correlated with albumin and the efficacy of neoadjuvant chemotherapy ( P = 0.004, 0.033). In 178 patients, the recurrence rate of liver metastases from colorectal cancer at 3 months [53.57% (15/70)], 6 months [55.17% (32/70)], and 12 months [55.68% (49/70)] was significantly higher in the right colon compared with the left colon [32.14% (9/40), 24.14% (14/40), 26.14% (23/40) and the rectum [14.29% (4/68), 20.69% (12/68), 18.18% (16/68)] ( χ2= 4.73, 7.85, 6.27, all P < 0.05). Conclusion:Right colon, lymph node metastasis, D-dimer, albumin, neoadjuvant chemotherapy efficacy, and clinical risk score are the risk factors for postoperative recurrence of liver metastases from colorectal cancer. Patients with the primary location at the right colon have a higher postoperative recurrence rate.

ABSTRACT

[Objective] To evaluate the effect of Ginkgo biloba extract on optic nerve in progressive normal-tension glaucoma patients. [Methods] 60 cases of patients suffered from controlled normal-tension glaucoma were randomly divided into control and treatment groups, 30 cases in each respectively. The patients in the control group received the conventional treatment(eye drops or surgical treatment), additionally the patients in the treatment group received Ginkgo biloba extract(twice a day ,1ml each time). 5 months was a therapeutic course, after 3 therapeutic courses the best corrected visual acuity, ocular hemodynamics, visual field, retinal nerve fiber layer thickness and optic disc data were detected and statistically studied. [Results] There was no significant difference in the best corrected visual acuity between control group and treatment group( P>0.05). The end diastolic velocity(EDV), peak systolic velocity(PSV) were increased significantly and resistive index(RI) was decreased significantly in treatment group after treatment( P<0.05), while the EDV, PSA, RI in control group before and after treatment were without significant differences( P>0.05). The mean visual field defects(MD) in treatment group after treatment were much lower than the control group( P<0.05). The reduction trends of the retinal nerve fiber layer thickness and rim area in treatment group after treatment were slower than control group significantly decreased( P<0.05). [Conclusion] Ginkgo biloba extract can improve the ocular hemodynamics, delay the deterioration of the best corrected visual acuity and visual field damage, extend the losing time of visual retinal nerve fiber layer thickness and rim area. It has protective effect on optic nerve in normal-tension glaucoma.

ABSTRACT

[Objective] To observe the clinical efficacy of treatment on Frequent Postoperative Posner-Schlossmann syndrome in cataract intraocular lens using Chinese medicine with the effect of tonifying the liver and kidney, nourishing yin and suppressing hyperactive yang.[Methods] 46 cases of Posner-Schlossmann syndrome were randomly divided into two groups, one was the Chinese Medicine group ,in which al cases were treated with Chinese herbs and local eyedrop at the time of first onset after operation; another was the control group, in which al cases were treated with local eyedrop. [Results] Within two years after treatment, compared with the control, in the Chinese Medicine group, the cases of recurrence of Posner-Schlossmann syndrome were obviously decreased. [Conclusion] Chinese medicine with the effect of tonifying the liver and kidney, nourishing yin and suppressing hyperactive yang shows definite effect on postoperative Posner-Schlossmann syndrome, it can decrease the occurrence frequency of number.

ABSTRACT

Objective To make a preliminary evaluation of the degradation of AZ31 bioabsorbable magnesium alloy stent implanted in the abdominal aorta of experimental rabbits. Methods Twelve AZ31 biodegradable magnesium alloy stents were separately deployed in the infrarenal abdominal aortas of twelve New Zealand white rabbits.Every three experimental rabbits were sacrificed each time at one, two, three and four months after the procedure of stenting. The stenting segment of the aortas were harvested, radiographod and sent for pathologic examination to observe the degradable performance of the stent. Results All animals survived form the operation in the scheduled follow-up period.Radiographically and pathologically, the stents were fully expanded with perfect shape one month after the procedure, and part of the stent struts began to be degraded and fractured in two months, resulting in the loss of its supporting function.Three months after the implantation most stents were corroded.and in four months all the stents become completely destroyed. The estimating time for producing complete degradation of AZ31 magnesium alloy stents in rabbit's aorta was 104.5 days. Conclusion AZ31 bioabsorbable magnesium alloy stents implanted in rabbit abdominal aorta will lose their radial force in two months. How to prolong the functioning time of the implanted stents is the next research target.
