ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the relationship between mental health and aggression among middle school students. Methods A total of 316 students were selected from a middle school in Hangzhou city by random sampling method and were assessed with the Mental Health Inventory of Middle -School (MMHI)and Junior Student Aggression Inventory. Results There were 177 students belonged to high level group of mental health(61.89%)and the total MMHI-60 score was 1.5 1 ±0.27 while 109 students belonged to low level group of mental health (38.1 1%)and the total MMHI-60 score was 2.52 ±0.47.The total and subscale scores of Aggression Inventory in the high level group of mental health were significantly lower than the low level group (both P<0.01 ).The total and subscale scores of Middle School Student Aggression Inventory were related to the total average scores of MMHI (P<0.01 ).Conclusion There is a negative correlation between mental health and aggression among middle school students.
