ABSTRACT

Two hundred children were included in this study. All patients were submitted to ESWL for the treatment of renal stones and proximal ureteral stones. ESWL was done using MT-RIX [spark-gap] lithotripter. Preoperative preparation and plain X-rays KUB were done for all patients. A follow up for those patients by plain X-ray KUB and abdominal ultrasound for three months was done and regular blood pressure measurement from one year was done. More than 85% success rate for ESWL as a treatment of pediatric and proximal ureteral stones was recorded. ESWL is a safe and effective modality for the treatment of renal and proximal ureteral stones
