ABSTRACT
The prevailing hypothesis of association between vitamin A and iron metabolism in the etiology of iron deficiency anemia was explored in a study conducted on 100 Pakistani women [ages 13 to 45 years]. Estimations were carried out for hemoglobin, hematocrit, RBC indices, status levels of retinal, iron, transferrin and ferritin and TIBC. It was concluded that vitamin A serum of Pakistani anemic women is adequate and does not appear to be a predisposing factor in the etiology of iron deficiency anemia
