ABSTRACT
Acute peritoneal dialysis may be used in the treatment of acute renal failure in the absence of facilities for haemodialysis or haemofiltration. It is a relatively simple technique, its mechanical success depends vitally on the care devoted to all aspects of the procedure. The procedure described has evolved over many years of clinical application in the Liverpool Regional Renal Unit and has been found satisfactory to meet most eventualities
