ABSTRACT

The vitrectomy and silicone oil injection has been used occasionally for the advertent retinal detachment, but the silicone oil placement within the vitreous cavity may cause the complications in such as band keratopathy, emulsification of silicone oil, iritis and glaucoma, etc. Especially, in the phakic eyes, the silicone oil may enter the anterior chamber in the form of a suspension of fine globules resembling an inverted hypopyon and it is called the hyperoleon. The authors observed a case of hyperoleon 4 months after surgery, reporting it with the review of literatures.

ABSTRACT

VAHS is characterized by viral-like prodromal symptoms, high fever' malaise, hepatosp lenomegaly, pancytopenia. The dignosis is based on a bone marrow biopsy specimen that demonstrates histiocytic hyperplasia with prominent hemophagocytosis of red blood cells, platelets, and nucleated hematopoietic cells Recently, the use of immunosuppressants tends to increase due to increase of autoimmune disease and organ transplantation patients. A large portion of leukemia and organ transplant patients developed VAHS as a secondary viral infection after anticancer drug and immunosuppressants therapy was administered In the field of ophthalmology, VAHS can occur by administration of immunosuppressants in corneal transplantation and autoimmune uveitis patients. Recently we experienced a case of fatal VAHS in a young uveitis patient who had been treated with immunosuppressants. We report this specfic case with literature review bec,lUse of the need for careful observation of general findings occurring during treatment of immunosuppressants such as corticosteroid.

ABSTRACT

Epiretinal membrane is occurred on the inner retinal surface, and its causes are numerous ocular condition and disease, including ocular inflammatory conditions, proliferative retinopathy, nonproliferative retinal vascular disorders, blunt or penetrating injuries, vitreous hemorrhages. Also it is appeared not only after the surgery for retinal detachment or rhegmatogenous retinal detachment but after the cryopexy and ocular photocoagulation and sometimes it is idiopathically appeared without any special reason. Recently the vitreous surgery makes the removing of the epiretinal membrane from the inner retinal surface easy. In this study, removed the epiretinal membrane during the partial vitrectomy occurred with idiopathic and that occurred after the surgery for retinal detachment. we electromicroscopically compared and analyzed them.
