ABSTRACT

A two year study [1986-87] involving 942 blood donors was undertaken to find out serum IgE levels. Four hundred and eighty eight [51.8%] donors had IgE values above 100 KU/L which is a widely accepted upper normal limit for an adult. Eighty three [8.9%] donors had IgE levels below normal [less than 15 KU/L]. In conclusion the reference range of serum IgE levels of 16 - 98 KU/L is established by the present study for adult Bahrainis
