Twenty five patients operated upon due to stricture in the common bile duct and/or common hepatic duct after cholycystectomy operation during the period from 1982-1988. Operations performed were choledchoduodenostomy for stricture of the common bile duct and hepaticojejunostomy using a Roux-en- Y loop of the jejunum for stricture of the common hepatic duct. The results were good with minimal complications and one mortality. In severely ill patients, percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage improved the condition preoperatively
