Metáfora e significação: a construção de sentidos em análise / Metaphor and significance: the construction of meanings in analysis

RESUMO: Neste artigo, discriminamos dois tipos de intervenções no contexto analítico: as metafóricas comparativas, cuja referência para produção de sentido é o significado; e as metafóricas criativas, produção de sentido via significante. Como base para tais desenvolvimentos, temos a figura da metáfora e suas teorias no campo da linguística e da retórica, acrescidas da teoria psicanalítica da metáfora desenvolvida por Lacan. Concluímos que as alternativas de intervenção aqui elaboradas, embora não esgotem outras formas, podem contribuir com o desenvolvimento para uma teoria da técnica psicanalítica.

Abstract: This article describes two types of interventions in the analytical context: the comparative metaphorical, whose reference for the production of sense is the meaning; and the creative metaphorical, production of sense by significant. As a basis for such development, there is the figure of metaphor and its theories in the field of linguistics and rhetoric, plus the psychoanalytic theory of metaphor developed by Lacan. We conclude the alternatives of intervention developed here, although they do not exhaust other forms, can contribute to the development of a theory of psychoanalytic technique.

A metáfora na teoria lacaniana: o estádio do espelho / The metaphor in Lacan’s theory: the mirror stage

O presente artigo busca discutir o papel e o aparecimento da metáfora na construção da obra de Lacan, através da análise de uma metáfora específica de sua teoria e fundamental na sua construção e sustentação: a “metáfora do espelho”. É em torno desta analogia que Lacan articula suas hipóteses sobre a constituição do Eu (Je) e aponta para o fundamental papel do Outro neste processo. A análise sugere que a metáfora na obra de Lacan não possui apenas funções estéticas e retóricas, como também cognitivas.

This article aims to discuss the role and the expression of metaphor in the construction of Lacan’s work, through the analysis of a specific metaphor from his theory and fundamental on its construction and support: the “metaphor of the mirror”. It’s around this analogy that Lacan articulates his hypothesis about the constitution of the I (Je) and points out to the fundamental role of the Other in this process. The analysis suggests the metaphor in Lacan’s work doesn’t have just aesthetical and rhetorical functions, but also cognitive.
