ABSTRACT

Up to day, there was no definite report in hormonal changes in serum and seminal plasma which might be affected by vasectomy. In order to clarify the controversy regarding hormonal change in normal, vasectomy and vasovasostomy, author has observed LH, FSH and Testosterone in seminal plasma as follow; l. The LH and FSH level has been shown decrease comparison with control group after vasectomy 2. The LH level has been rising with vasovasostomy. 3. The FSH level was some increased after vasovasostomy, but which is not statistically significant. 4. The Testosterone has not been shown any change with vasectomy and vasovasostomy.

ABSTRACT

Alpha-FP is a major serum binding protein produced by the fetal yolk sac, liver, and gastrointestinal tract. It may be produced by pure embryonal carcinoma, teratocarcinoma, yolk sac tumor, or combined tumors but not by pure choriocarcinoma or pure seminoma. HCG is secreted by the placenta but in germ cell tumors, syncytiotrophoblastic cells have been found responsible for the production of HCG. Recently, we experienced a case of mixed germ cell tumor composed of mainly teratoma and seminoma which is producing alpha-FP and beta-HCG.

ABSTRACT

Developing the instruments in urological field, the urinary tract stones may be manipulated more easily and lesser invasively recently. The percutaneous nephrolithotripsy is one of the most widely using technique for the renal stone. But, the major portion of the failure through the manipulation of percutaneous nephrolithotripsy is the access to the correct, wanted calyx by puncture. So, we observed the 27 normal right kidneys and 26 left kidneys by abdominal computer tomogram scanning and excretory urography for the Korean caliceal anatomy. The following results were obtained 1. The average values of posterior renal rotation from the coronal plane of body were 31.0 degrees +/- 4.4 degrees in the right kidneys 32.4 degrees +/- 3.2 degrees in the left kidneys. 2. The average values of anterior and posterior caliceal angle were 58.8 degrees +/- 7.6 degrees and 20.7 degrees +/- 5.8 degrees in the right kidneys; 38.3 degrees +/- 6.2 degrees and 43.0 degrees +/- 5.2 degrees in the left kidneys. 3. The major type of classical system was Brodel type (74.l%) in the right kidney; Hodson type (53.8%) in the left kidney. 4. The anterior calyx is more laterally placed about 8l.8% in the excretory urography.

ABSTRACT

Congenital renal arteriovenous fistulas are rare clinicopathologic entities usually first manifested by hematuria. Renal angiography or isotopic scan establishes the diagnosis. We report a case of congenital arteriovenous fistula confirmed by renal angiography with review of literatures.

ABSTRACT

Duplication of the renal pelvis and ureter is the most common congenital anomaly of the upper urinary tract. The three most important abnormalities associated with duplicated kidney are vesicoureteral reflux, ectopic ureter and ureterocele. Herein we present three cases of unilateral, complete duplicated ureter in children associated with ectopic ureteral orifice, vesicoureteral reflux and ectopic ureterocele, respectively, with review of related literatures. They have suffered from urinary incontinence with normal voiding since birth, recurrent urinary tract infection and protruding mass from the urethral meatus on straining respectively. Two cases of them were treated with partial nephrectomy and ureterectomy, the third was performed partial nephrectomy, ureterectomy and ureterocelectomy.

ABSTRACT

Malakoplakia of the bladder is an extremely rare condition in which there are multiple round or oval, plaque like or occasionally polypoid projections of the mucosa and submucosa which may be mistaken for cancer. It is believed to be infectious in origin, secondary to a deficiency of intracellular lysosomal digestion. There is often a clinical history of urinary tract infection, and the condition is considered to be an atypical form of granulomatous response to Gram negative coliform infection. We report a case of malakoplakia of the bladder clinically simulating malignant tumor, which was treated successfully with transurethral resection and antibiotics.

ABSTRACT

Ureteral stricture are not uncommon sequelae in renal tuberculosis. Oral steroid therapy has been tried as an alternative to surgery in some of these patient on several reports. Three ureteral stricture were effective in 5 patient by oral steroid therapy.

ABSTRACT

Since Brown first described the eosinophilic cystitis in 1959, 42 cases has been reported in the literature. In Korea, only 1 case was reported from the National Medical Center a couple of years ago. Eosinophilic cystitis is characterized histologically by infiltration of eosinophils into the mucosa, submucosa and muscularis of the bladder and cystoscopically by elevated erythematous mucosal lesions. These lesions have been mistakenly diagnosed as bladder tumors prior to biopsy. Clinically, it presents with dramatic and recurrent episodes of dysuria and hematuria. It can occur in two different clinical setups. The first is seen in women and children and is often associated with allergic disorders and eosinophilia. The second presents in older man and is usually associated with bladder injury related to other conditions of bladder and prostate. We herein add two cases of eosinophilic cystitis, review etiologic theories and outline management.

ABSTRACT

Recently, the modern surgical practice for the renal stone is being increasingly supplemented through the development of new technique. For example, hypothermic renal surgery, partial nephrectomy and extended pyelolithotomy were carried out by the ""therapy with the knife"". The percutaneous Nephrolithotripsy is one of the minimal invasive procedure to the renal stone surgery all over the world recently. This method is known as a safe, simple and reliable procedure for renal stone surgery, and they realize this technique as enormous advantage for patients; short hospital stay, minimal morbidity and rapid return to work etc. Three cases of renal stone through percutaneous nephrolithotripsy were carried out with much favour the first procedure in Korea. The first and third case were excellent result, but the second case was perforated on the uretero-pelvic junction of the kidney. There after, on the fifth postoperative day pyeloureteroplasty was performed with the splint of double J catheter. All the Patients were performed as the one session puncture, dilatation with telescopic dilator and lithotripsy with ultrasound lithotriptor. The two patients had 6th and 7th hospital day postoperatively.
