ABSTRACT

Small bowel diverticulosis is a rare entity that occurs later in life. The majority of diagnosed cases is asymptomatic and is incidentally found in radiological examinations or laparotomy. The significance of this rare disease entity is that it might present with acute life threatening complications. Here, we present a case of diffuse giant small intestine diverticulosis that was complicated with intestinal volvulus

ABSTRACT

Day case surgery is increasing in popularity and more patients with multiple surgical problems are being considered as suitable for this approach. The provision of day surgery is useful for those operations which require a relatively short general anaesthetic and which do not carry the risk of postoperative complications that require management in hospital. Early discharge from hospital after day case surgery is proving very popular with patients and in the vast majority of cases, it is an entirely satisfactory way of handling patients when appropriate selection is made. We present a review of 228 general surgery patients who have received treatment in our day surgery ward at King Hussein Medical Center [K.H.M.C] during six months duration between January 2002-July 2002. Our review showed that day surgery is the best option for about 40% of all patients undergoing elective surgical procedures
