ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of the correction of the position error of the abdominal tumor by cone beam scanning. Methods Six patients with abdominal tumor were selected with double-blind method, and electronical portal imaing device was used to collect the information of the patient dosimetry during radiotherapy.EDOSE tool was applied to 3D dose reconstruction so as to execute real-time 3D dose verification of the treatment plan. Each patient had 5 sets of data acquired when image guidance existed and another 5 sets when image guidance was absent. The treatment effects with or without image guidance were compared.Results The overall γ passing rate with cone beam CT image guidance gained no advantages over that without image guidance, though the setup error was corrected to some extent. Image guidance contributed nothing to increasing target area coverage while decreasing exposure dose to normal tissue. Conclusion Setup error correction by the image guidance based on bone marker has no significant effect on improving 3D dose verification and dose accuracy during the radiotherapy of the abdominal tumor patient.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the liver protective effects of Siphonostegia chinensis decoction in rats with liver fibrosis induced by carbon tetrachloride(CCl4).Methods A total of 120 male SD rats were randomly divided into six groups: a blank control group, a model group, a Siphonostegia chinensis decoction group, a Salvia miltiorrhiza decoction group, a Rhizoma polygoni cuspidati decoction group and a polyene phosphatidylcholine capsules group, with 20 rats in each group. The model of liver fibrosis in rats was induced by subcutaneous injection with CCl4, except the blank group. Except rats in the blank control group and the model group, the rats in the other four groups were treated with Siphonostegia chinensis decoction, Salvia miltiorrhiza decoction, Rhizoma polygoni cuspidati decoction and polyene phosphatidylcholine capsules(10 ml/kg). The serum level of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)was determined with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, the fibrosis stage assessment were determined by histopathological examination.Results Compared with the model group, Siphonostegia chinensis decoction group significantly reduced the stage of liver fibrosis(P0.05).Compared with liver fibrosis model group(368.06±24.90)U/L, the serum level of TNF-α in the Siphonostegia chinensis decoction group(336.61± 20.20)U/L significantly reduced(P0.05).Conclusion Siphonostegia chinensis decoction has certain liver protective effect in rats with liver fibrosis induced by CCl4.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To explore the indications of arthroscope for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis and investigate the correlation between knee osteoarthritis imaging and effects of arthroscope.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>From 2005.8 to 2008.4, 86 patients with knee osteoarthritis underwent arthroscope examination and treatment. Among the patients, 44 patients were male, and 42 patients were female, ranging in age from 46 to 67 years, averaged 56.3 years. Arthrodial cartilage of knee was graded by ICRS MR, and by Kellgern Laqrence X-ray. All the patients were followed up, and the duration ranged from 12 to 30 months. The Lysholm score was evaluated at the follow-up time.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Among 86 knees in 86 cases, cartilage injury degree of knees was graded as follows: grade 4 in 30 cases, grade 3 in 22 cases, grade 2 in 20 cases, grade 1 in 12 cases, grade 0 in 2 cases, mean grade (2.77 +/- 1.138). Postoperative Lysholm score ranged from 59 to 100, averaged (95.17 +/- 7.556), Kendall's correlation coefficient was -0.089, P = 0.317. There was no correlations between cartilage injury degree and Lysholm score. X-ray of knees was graded as follows: grade 4 in 0 cases, grade 3 in 24 cases, grade 2 in 38 cases, grade 1 in 17 cases, grade 0 in 7 cases, mean grade was (2.13 +/- 0.67), the Kendall's correlation coefficient was -0.851 with negative correlations (P = 0.036) between postoperative Lysholm score and K/L grade.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>There is no correlation between the grade of knee cartilage injury confirmed by MRI (1.5T) and effects of arthroscopy, and the grade is not a gold standard as an operation indication in arthroscope procedure. The K/L grade in X-ray had important effects.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To develop a mouse model of acute lung injury induced by cigarette smoke (CS) and to investigate inflammatory changes with the model.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>ICR mice exposed to CS for 20-min, 3/d. Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and lung tissue were harvested at d 0, d 1, d 3 and d 7 after CS exposure. Neutrophil count in BAFL, TNF-alpha and MMP-12 levels, the activity of MPO in lung tissue were determined.</p><p><b>RESULT</b>Neutrophil count in BALF, MMP-12 and MPO levels in lung tissue were increased after CS exposure in a time-dependent manner with a peak at d3. TNF-alpha level sharply increased at d1, and remained high level until d7.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>ICR mice are tolerant and sensitive to CS exposure, which may be used as an appropriate animal model for acute lung injury induced by cigarette smoke.</p>

ABSTRACT

There are some human diseases associated with mitochondrial DNA genome defect. Now many studies think that: oxygen radical resulting from oxidative phosphorylation(OXPHOS) disorder caused by myocardium ischemia and the increased OXPHOS induction damage mitochondrial DNA. Chronic damage accumulations lead to mitochondrial DNA deletion or point mutation in the end which show mitochondrial DNA 5.0 kb or 7.4 kb deletion and point mutation at position C15452A in the cytochrome b gene; the conservative sequence mutation of tRNA gene such as A4300G, C4320T point mutation in the tRNA Ilegene, A3243G point mutation in the tRNA leu gene etc result in defective contractile proteins whose persistent and inefficient contraction may increase the myocardium's metabolic demands for ATP and leads to cardiac hypertrophy. In this article, we review the study on the association of mitochondrial DNA mutation with ischemic cardiomyopathy and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

ABSTRACT

Objective To design a new method to verify the position of multileaf collimator(MLC)leaf using a two-dimensional ion chamber array(2D-array).Methods 2D-array of PTW T10018 Seven29~(TM) was used to calibrate the accuracy of MLC leaf position of Elekta Precise accelerator.The edge function of the leaf position of MLC was measured and used as the reference value.The precision of MLC leaf was then evaluated through comparing the measured and reference values.Results The accuracy of MLC leaf position was found within?0.1 mm.Conclusion This method of verifying the accuracy of multileaf collimator leaf position is easy,simple and reliable

ABSTRACT

Objective To realize the inter-network connectivity problem through one information-point. Methods According to the characteristics of twisted -pair connections, following the work principles and standards of Ethernet, the transformation of twisted-pair was rebuilt by tri-pass connecting twin-network. Results Each pair of thread groups was taken full advantage by achieving twin-network. Conclusion By comparing the two types of transformation methods, a set of practical solution is explored of handy, mobility, non-destructive and reversible.
