ABSTRACT

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of budesonide viscous suspension (BVS) in preventing extensive esophageal stenosis after endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD).Methods:Data of 62 cases of early esophageal neoplasms or precancerous lesions receiving ESD whose postoperative mucosal defects were more than half the circumference of the esophageal lumen at Fujian Provincial Hospital from October 2014 to December 2018 were retrospectively studied. The patients were divided into the BVS group who received BVS therapy (n=24) and the control group who received no intervention (n=38). The incidence of postoperative stenosis, the number of bougie dilation procedures and complications were compared between the two groups. Risk factors for postoperative stricture were analyzed by logistic regression. Results:The incidence of postoperative stenosis [16.7% (4/24) VS 47.3% (18/38), P=0.005], the number of bougie dilation procedures (1.50±0.58 VS 2.70±1.09, P=0.039) in the BVS group were significantly lower than those in the control group. No serious adverse events such as perforation or massive hemorrhage related to BVS were observed in the BVS group. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed circumferential extension ≥3/4 ( OR=37.970, 95% CI: 6.338-227.482) and non-intervention with BVS( OR=20.962, 95% CI: 3.374-130.243) were the independent risk factors for esophageal stricture after ESD. Conclusion:Administration of BVS is an effective and safe method to reduce the incidence of stenosis and the number of bougie dilation procedures for extensive esophageal stenosis after ESD.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo observe the impact of mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) transplantation on myocardial myocardin-related transcription factor-A (MRTF-A) and bcl-2 expression in rats with experimental myocardial infarction (MI).

METHODSThirty rats were randomly divided into sham, MI and MI + BMSCs (1 × 10(6) injected into 4 infarct points immediately post coronary artery ligation) groups (n = 10 each). One week later, TUNEL was used to detect cardiomyocyte apoptosis, the myocardial expression of MRTF-A and bcl-2 was detected by laser scanning confocal microscope and Western blot. In vitro plasmid of MRTF-A and co-transfection with plasmids of MRTF-A and bcl-2 or mutated bcl-2 transfection into cardiomyocyte was applied to evaluate the relationship between MRTF-A and bcl-2.

RESULTSThe number of apoptotic cardiomyocytes in the sham group, MI group and MI + BMSCs group were (4.05 ± 1.56)%, (62.38 ± 8.41)% and (22.36 ± 6.17)%, respectively (P < 0.05). The protein expression of MRTF-A and bcl-2 in the MI group were significantly lower than those in sham group, while significantly upregulated in MI + BMSCs group (P < 0.05 vs. MI). In cultured neonatal rat cardiomyocyte, the expression of bcl-2 protein was significantly upregulated after transfection with MRTF-A plasmid, and bcl-2-luciferase activity significantly increased after co-transfection with plasmids of MRTF-A and bcl-2-luciferase, however, the positive regulatory effect of MRTF-A was abolished after transfection with mutated bcl-2.

CONCLUSIONMesenchymal stem cells transplantation can effectively reduce cardiomyocyte apoptosis in this rat MI model, and upregulate the expression of MRTF-A. Consequent up-regulated bcl-2 expression might be involved in the beneficial effects of BMSCs transplantation in this model.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To study the prevalence and influencing factors of dyslipidemia in the elderly in Changsha.@*METHODS@#Multi-stage randomized cluster sampling method was used to select 3 500 persons aged 65 and over in Changsha. Levels of serum lipids were detected and questionnaire was used to investigate the related factors (such as smoking, drinking, history of chronic diseases).@*RESULTS@#The prevalence rate of dyslipidemia was 43.72%. The abnormal rate of serum triglyceride, cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein was 26.54%, 25.31% and 16.65%, respectively. Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that smoking, drinking, overweight or obesity were risk factors of dyslipidemia.@*CONCLUSION@#The incidence of dyslipidemia is high and the influencing factors are common among the elderly. Community health education will help improve the effect of prevention and control.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of nutrition intervention on psychological stress combining with sleep deprivation in rats. Methods Seventy-five male SD rats were randomly divided into five groups:control group, composite factor group, composite factor control group, nutrition group Ⅰ and nutrition group Ⅱ. The rat model of 14d psychological stress combining with 48h sleep deprivation was established by Communication Box and improved small platform methods. Rats in the 2 nutrition groups were gavaged with corresponding nutriment everyday; those in other groups were treated with gavage of physiological saline. Morris water maze place navigation test was employed to train rats and measure the ability of rats' spatial working memory. The antioxygenic potential of rats' blood serum and some nutrients were measured with corresponding kits. Results Compared with the composite factor group, the escape latency of all quadrants shortened significantly (P

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of psychological stress on the function of dopamine receptor in the central nervous system in rats and the intervention effect of tyrosine. Methods Rats were continuously subjected to psychological stress by communication box model 30min a day for 14 days. They were fed with tyrosine 250mg/kg, 500mg/kg, or 1000mg/kg, respectively. The maximal bonding capacity (Bmax) and the balance dissociation constant (Kd) of D1, D2 receptor of DA at the site of ventral tegmental area (VTA), nucleus accumbens (Nac), mesoprefrontal cortex (mPFC) were determined by radioactive ligand bonding analysis. Results Bmax of the D1 receptors declined significantly in mPFC and Nac area of psychological stress treated group compared with that of control group (P

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of repeated psychological stress on central nerve dopamine system, and the effect of tyrosine intervention. Methods Rats were subjected to psychological stress by Communication Box model continuously for 14 days (30min/d), and fed with tyrosine in the dose of 250mg/kg, 500mg/kg or 1000mg/kg respectively. Tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) and fos protein of the brain tissue in the ventral tegumental area (VTA), nucleus accumbens (Nac) and mesoprefrontal cortex (mPFC) area were detected by immunohistochemical staining. Results In the ventral tegumental area (VTA), 5.1mm posterior to anterior fontanel, TH positive neurons were obviously less in number in psychological stress group than that in control group (P
