ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Xinmailong Injection (XI) in treatment of chronic heart failure (CHF) patients with qi-yang deficiency and blood stasis resistance syndrome (QY-DBSRS).</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Totally 238 CHF patients with QYDBSRS were assigned to the treatment group (118 cases) and the control group (120 cases) by randomized, double-blind, placebo parallel controlled method. Patients in the treatment group received routine therapy and XI (100 mg/2 mL, by dripping at 5 mg/kg, twice per day for 5 consecutive days), while those in the control group received routine therapy and XI mimetic agent (100 mg/2 mL, by dripping at 5 mg/kg, twice per day for 5 consecutive days). The heart function classification of New York Heart Association (NYHA), 6-min walking distance, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), scores for Chinese medical symptoms were observed before and after treatment, and safety assessed.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Totally 235 patients actually entered full analysis set (FAS), including 120 cases in the control group and 115 cases in the treatment group. The total effective rate of heart function, 6-min walking distance and increased post-pre-treatment distance in the experimental group were superior to those of the control group with statistical difference (all P < 0.05). Compared with the control group, increased value of post-pre-treatment LVEF, the total effective rate of Chinese medical syndrome efficacy, scores for Chinese medical symptoms and decreased post-pre-treatment value of Chinese medical syndrome scores were obviously improved (all P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse events between the two groups (P > 0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>XI could improve the heart function of CHF patients, improve Chinese medical symptoms, elevate exercise tolerance, and improve LVEF. It had no obvious toxic and side effects.</p>

ABSTRACT

@#ObjectiveTo observe the effect of Huanglian Wendan decoction and Danshen decoction combined with Wester medicineon stable coronary heart disease.Methods60 patients with angina or myocardial infarction were randomly divided into the control group and treatment group with 30 cases in each group. The patients of the control group were treated with routine medicine and those of the treatment group were added with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) Huanglian Wendan decoction combined with Danshen decoction. The changes of angina, symptoms and signs of TCM, electrocardiogram (ECG), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and high sensitive C-reactive protein (HS-CRP) of all patients were observed before and after treatment.ResultsAfter treatment, the frequency and duration of angina, dose of notroglycerine of patients in two groups were significantly different from those before treatment (P<0.01 ), but there was no significant difference between two groups (P>0.05). The symptoms such as chest discomfort and palpitation of patients of two groups improved after treatment (P<0.05~0.01), but the treatment group improved more obviously than the control group (P<0.05). The total effective rate showed by ECG were 53.3% in the control group and 73.3 % in the treatment group, there was no significant difference between two groups. HS-CRP and LDL-C of all patients decreased after treatment (P<0.01), but the treatment group was lower than the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion Huanglian Wendan decoction combined with Danshen decoction can relief clinical symptoms of stable coronary heart disease, which may be related with lipid decrease and inflammation reduction.

ABSTRACT

@#ObjectiveTo explore the effect of Shuanglong pill which can vivid blood and relax thread pulse on cardial morphology and haemodynamics in experimental myocardial infarction (MI) rats.Methods66 rats ligated left coronary artery were randomly divided into large dose group of Shuanglong pill (LDG), small dose group of Shuanglong pill (SDG), the normal control (NC) and the control group of MI. Half in each group received 2 week treatment and the other received 4 week treatment, and were spiled in femoral and common carotid artery respectively. Parameters of cardiac haemodynamics were monitored by eight lead physiological recorder. ResultsLeft ventricular systolic maximum velocity in LDG, SDG and DC was more significantly elevated than in MI, after 2 weeks and 4 weeks of treatment, but it was lower than NC. There were no significant differences among LDG, SDG and DC. Ventricular systolic maximum velocity in LDG was more significantly elevated than in MI after 2 week treatment.ConclusionTreating MI with Shuanglong pill can improve left ventricular systolic maximum velocity, and diastolic phase function of left ventricular also elevate during the acute stage of MI by using large dose.

ABSTRACT

@#ObjectiveTo study the effect of Shuanglong pill on expression of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF) on aortic atherosclerotic plaque.MethodsAs atherosclerotic(AS) models of rabbits were made by immune injury plus hyperlipid diet, all rabbits were divided into blank control group(group Ⅰ,6), experimental control group(group Ⅱ, 6), captopril control group(group Ⅲ, 6; 10 mg/kg·d,12 weeks), and Shuanglong pill group(group Ⅳ, 6; 2.52 g/kg·d,12 weeks). Quantitive and qualitative analysis of expression of VEGF and BFGF on aortic atherosclerotic plaque were performed.ResultsExpressive area, density and density index of VEGF and bFGF on aortic atherosclerotic plaques were significantly decreased in group Ⅲ and Ⅳ than in group Ⅱ(P<0.01). There were significant decrease for VEGF expression in group Ⅳ than in group Ⅲ(P<0.01).Pathologic staining showed that there were no foam cells formation and no stained yellow in group Ⅰ, but mass foam cells formation and widespread stained yellow in group Ⅱ. There were a small quantity of foam cells formation and little stained yellow in group Ⅲ and group Ⅳ.ConclusionShuanglong pill can delay/reverse AS progression by inhibiting VEGF and bFGF expression in atherosclerotic plaque as well as captopril.
