ABSTRACT

Objective:To study the rule of using herbs on treating dysphagia created by Ye Tianshi. Methods:Collected the priscriptions of TCM treating dysphagia from the book Clinical Medical Cases and Unpublished YE's Medical Records. We processed them in the Excel 2013 with data mining methods by SPSS 22.0, analized the functions, meridian and correlation rule of commonly seen herbs and with frequency analysis method. Combined with the statistical results, review the literature content, summarize the treatment experience of Ye Tianshi. Results:There are 39 prescriptions included in the treatment of dysphagia, including 50 herbs. The frequently appeared herbs in the cases of dysphagia were: Pinellia Tuber (61.5%), Poria Cocos (56.4%), Ginger (46.2%), Coptidis Rhizoma (33.3%), Panax Ginseng (28.2%). The top five categories of functions were resolving phlegm and relieving cough and asthma (28.4%), deficiency syndromes (12.3%), relieving exterior syndromes (11.8%), regulating qi (11.3%) and diuresis and diffusing dampness (11.3%). The frequently used flavors of Chinese herbs were bitter, pungent and sweet; as for the nature of herbs, warm and cold ones were commonly used; and targeted the meridians of lung, spleen and stomach. There were three herbs-group susually contain 2 kinds of herbs: Citrus Aurantium & Pinellia Tuber, Coptidis Rhizoma & Pinellia Tuber, and Ginger & Pinellia Tuber. There were three usually contain 3 kinds of herbs: Poria Cocos-Coptidis Rhizome-Pinellia Tuber, Poria Cocos-Ginger-Pinellia Tuber, and Coptidis Rhizome-Ginger-Pinellia Tuber. Conclusions:Ye Tianshi paid attention to physical and mental recuperation when treating dysphagia. According to the characteristics of the disease, he flexibly chose the cold or hot herbs by nature, and emphasized the recuperation of the lung, spleen, stomach and other zang-fu organs and used more herbs that could resolve phlegm and relieve cough and asthma, promoted the method of using pungent and bitter herbs. He also paid attention to warm yang with ginger treatment, especially ginger juice. He created a new method to treat the dysphagiaby regulating body fluid of lung and stomach, and used herbs like Glycyrrhiza with caution.

ABSTRACT

[Objective]To observe the curative effect of Wenjing Huayu Decoction for chemotherapy-induced hand-foot syndrome. [Methods]A total of 61 cases of patients with hand-foot syndrome induced by the oral administration of capecitabine were incorporated in the study, and further randomly divided into the treatment group(31 cases) and the control group(30cases). Capecitabine's dosage was 1250mg/m2,twice in one day, from the first day to the fourteen days,7 days of rest, with an observational period of 21 days.In the treatment group, patients were immersed with warm-water diluted Wenjing Huayu Decoction, from the first day of chemotherapy, once in the morning and once at night, 20 minutes a time, with an observational period of 21 days;besides, external application of urea cream was used for patients in the control group;patients in both groups applied corresponding treatment schemes twice a day, once in the morning and once at night, with an observational period of 21 days. The therapeutic effects in both groups were evaluated after 2 cycles of treatment. [Results]The effective rate of HFS was 67.7%in the treatment group and 36.7%in the control group. The results showed that the curative effect in the treatment group was significantly more efficient than that in the control group, with a statistical difference( P<0.05); according to the quality of life(QOL) scoring, there was an obvious difference in improving patients'quality of life between the two groups(P<0.05). [Conclusion]An immersion treatment applying Wenjing Huayu Decoction can be an effective regimen for the treatment of hand-foot syndrome induced by the administration of capecitabine, associated with improvement of patient's life quality.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To find out some microscopically visible morphological differences in normal tongue manifestation between patients with primary liver cancer and healthy adults, and provide some beneficial evidences for microcosmic syndrome differentiation of tongue inspection. METHODS: Microcirculations of the tongue tip, which represented the macroscopical normal tongue manifestation, were observed under an optical microscope in patients with primary liver cancer and healthy adults. Exfoliated cells from tongue coating were examined by hematoxylin-eosin staining. RESULTS: The proportion of normal tongue manifestation was larger in healthy adults (38.89%) than that in patients with primary liver cancer (2.32%). The total score of microcirculation of tongue tip and the maturation index of exfoliated cells from tongue coating were both higher in patients with primary liver cancer than those in healthy adults with normal tongue manifestation (P<0.01, P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Normal tongue manifestation, which is macroscopically visible, can be observed in both patients with primary liver cancer and healthy adults, but there exists obvious difference in microcosmic view.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To explore the correlation between the width of lingual varix and changes of hemodynamics of portal system in patients with primary liver cancer so as to supply the data for the forecast of portal hypertension by observing lingual varix. METHODS: The diameter of lingual vein (Dlv) was measured by vernier caliper as dependent variable, and the diameters and indexes of hemodynamics of portal vessels were measured by Doppler as independent variables, then a multipe stepwise analysis was performed. RESULTS: The diameters of portal vein (Dpv) and splenic vein (Dsv) entered the formula Dlv (mm) = 0.185 + 0.311 Dsv (mm) + 0.236 Dpv (mm) when the entry and removal values were alpha(in)=0.10 and alpha(out)=0.15, respectively. CONCLUSION: The width of lingual vein is closely correlated with the diameters of portal vein and splenic vein in patients with primary liver cancer.

ABSTRACT

[Objective] To observe the therapeutic effect of Zhuye Shigao Decoction (ZSD) for the treatment of deep candidiasis in mice. [Methods] One hundred and sixty mice were randomized into immunosuppressive (IS) group and non-immunosuppressive (NIS) group, 80 in each group. The IS mice were given with intraperitoneal injection of cyclophosphamide 200mg/kg and the NIS mice were given with normal saline 0.2mL. Five days later, both groups were vaccinated with Candida albicans solution 0.2 mL through the caudal veins (8 ? 109/L for the NIS mice and 3 ? 109/L for the IS mice). Three hours after vaccination, 20 of the two groups were treated with ZSD 30g/kg, 20 with fluconazole (Img/kg for IS mice and 0.5mg/kg for NIS mice), 20 with ZSD and fluconazole (the medication interval being one hour) and other 20 with same volume of distilled water. The treatment lasted 7 days and the mean survival time and survival colony in the kidney were observed. [Results] ZSD prolonged the survival time (P
