ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the status of quality control of dental X-ray equipment in Beijing Dongcheng District, to explore the problems involved in radiation protection. Methods 41 medical dental X-ray machines were detected in Beijing Dongcheng District in accordance with Specification for testing of quality control in dental X-ray equipment (WS 581—2017). Results The qualified rate was higher in imported machines (100%) than that in domestic machines (76.92%), the overall qualified rate was 92.68%. In performance detection, the qualified rates were 100% except for the deviation of loading time (92.68%) and tube voltage (95.12%). No leakage was detected in 41 dental institutes. Conclusion The overall status of dental X-ray machines was good in Beijing Dongcheng District. More attention was paid to shield protection than to quality control of dental X-ray machines. Therefore, health administration should take measures to strengthen advocation of WS 581—2017, and improve radiation protection through routine equipment performance test, supervision of X-ray protection and radiation health education.

ABSTRACT

Objective The overexpression lung cancer1( OLC1) protein is overexpressed in a variety of human tumors. The purpose of the present study is to determine whether increased expression of OLC1 is associat-ed with colorectal cancer. Methods OLC1 expression was assayed in 150 colorectal cancer tissues by immuno-histochemical staining(IHC).Multivariate and univariate analyses were performed to determine the association between OLC1 expression and prognosis. Results Immunohistochemical results revealed that 107 out of 150 colorectal cancer patients had increased levels of OLC1.OLC1 expression was significantly correlated with UICC stage(P<0.001)and histological differentiation(P<0.001)in colorectal cancer patients. The 5-year overall survival( OS) rates in patients with strong positive and less OLC1 staining were 16.6%and 95.3%,respectively (P<0.0001).Conclusion OLC1 overexpression is an important factor in colorectal carcinoma prognosis and can be an interesting potential novel biomarker for colorectal cancer.

ABSTRACT

Objective To assess the different methods and their outcomes of interventional therapy for stenosis or occlusion in superior vena cava and its branches. Methods Sixty patients with stenosis or occlusion of SVC and its branches were retrospectively analyzed after interventional therapy. Among them, 38 were males and 22 were females, with age range from 15 to 72 years old(mean age 58). Seventeen patients were treated by thrombolysis, and the rest 43 patients accepted percutaneous angioplasty and stenting. Before and after that, the pressures within the vein were measured at the inflow side. The paired-t test was used for statistical analysis. Results After treatment, the pressure at the inflow side dropped from (24.8±2.3)mm Hg to (7.1±1.5)mm Hg(1 mm Hg=0.133 kPa), with a significant difference(t=3.232,P<0.01). The clinical outcomes included complete relief in 27 patients, partial relief in 28 patients and non-relief in 5 patients. No major complications occurred. During 6 months follow up, restenosis occurred in 10 patients, among whom 6 received repeat intervention with good results. The other 4 patients turned to surgery .Conclusion Interventional therapy for stenosis or occlusion in SVC and its branches could recanalize the vessels, restore the blood flow and relief the clinical symptoms.
