ABSTRACT

Object To determine the change of benzoic acid contents in decoctions prepared from various combinations of the recipe named SIWUTANG by RP HPLC to provide a reference for the control of the acid level Methods 8 decoctions of P lactiflora either alone or in combination with one or more of the other 3 components, according to permutation and combination, were prepared and their benzoic acid contents determined by RP HPLC Results The content of benzoic acid in the decoction of Radix Paeonie Alba alone was found to be 2 74 mg/g, while that of the other 7 combinations varied from 0 41~1 11 mg/g Conclusion The content of benzoic acid in SIWUTANG could be lowered significantly by the presence of Radix Angelica Sinensis, Radix Rehmanniae, and Rhizoma Chuanxiong

ABSTRACT

Object To establish the fingerprint spectrum of Coptis chinensis Franch. by HPCE. Methods The correlation relativity of retention time and peak area of each chromatographic peak in different batches of medicinal materials were explored respectively, and beberine was chosen as the reference to calculate the relative retention time and the ratio of peak area for each chromatographic peak. Results The correlation coefficients of relative retention time and the ratio of each chromatographic peak were all higher than 0.999 0 in different batches of medicinal materials. Conclusion The established fingerprint spectrum is stable and credible, and could be used as characteristic fingerprint spectrum for C. chinensis.

ABSTRACT

Objective: The similarities and the differences among Peru's Ginseng healthcare product, Radix Ginseng and Panax quinquefolium were studied. Methods: The work was performed by analysis of HPLC FPS and 4 dimensional UV FPS. Results: Their 4 dimensional UV FPS were very similar with each other, and the common peaks ratio of the components extracted from Peru's Ginseng healthcare product, Radix Ginseng with absolute alcohol was larger than that of the components extracted from Peru's Ginseng healthcare product and Panax quinquefolium. The variant ratio between the healthcare product and Radix Ginseng were more similar and much lower than that between the healthcare product and Panax quinquefolium. Conclusion: The components extracted from the healthcare product with absolute alcohol are the same as that from Radix Ginseng and are of quite large difference from the components from Panax quinquefolium.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To compare the ligustilide content in Siwu Decoction and its ingredient herb. METHODS: To extract with SFE-CO 2 and to determine ligustilide with HPLC. RESULTS: Of the content of ligustilide, the highest in single herb, next in the mixture of Angelicae Sinensis Radix and Lignstic Rhizoma, the lowest in Siwu Decoction. CONCLUSION: When Angelicane Sinensis Radix and Lignstic Rhizoma were in compound preparation, the content of ligustilide became lower obviously.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To fix optimum extracting craft of polysaccharides in Siwu Decoction.(Radix Rehmanniae Preparata, Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Radix Paeoniae Alba, Rhizoma Chuanxiong). Methods: The orthogonal design was used and refluxing time (A). water totalling (B) and extraction time (C) were defined as factors of the design. Results: A factor and C factor had notable influence on the content of polysaccharides. Conclusion: Optimum extracting craft was defined as follows: A 2B 1C 2.
