ABSTRACT

Twenty-two cases were examined and studied, of which 16 cases of atypical endocervical glandular hyperplasia. Mucin study revealed a gradual depletion from benign to malignant. PAS staining for neutral mucin showed a significant difference between low and high grade atypical hyperplasia and between high grade cases and well- differentiated adenocarcinoma. While, alcian blue stain for acid mucin showed a significant differentiation between low and high grade cases, not between high grade atypical hyperplasia and well- differentiated adenocarcinoma. AgNORs could be used as a differential parameter between atypical and malignant lesions
